In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

I think it may be a while. That was such a sick burn from Moz about supporting New Order, I expect Johnny will be in hospital receiving treatment for several days yet.

I doubt it, Johnny’s North American tour starts in a couple of weeks so he’s probably more interested in preparing for that. Interesting to see that Morrissey’s still a liar though.

I'm glad Marr turned the offer down, setting aside Rourke passing away, there was a unity of art and purpose 40 odd years ago, two strangers fulfilling a contract for money isn't that, it isn't The Smiths.

The Gallagher brothers are almost taking off where they left off including the potential for it all to end in fireworks at any second, Morrissey and Marr were two kids at the start of their careers and then nothing until now when they are bloody pensioners.yuck.

And why Johnny won't go anywhere near Moz again.
In the bleachers, you sit with your legs spread
Smiling 'here's one thing you'll never have.'

When Robert Plant and Jimmy Page toured in the late 90's, was it as Plant and Page, yeah? Morrissey and Marr might do quite nicely as a tour moniker. Would be lovely to see Morrissey with a proper band behind him, and Johnny with a singer who can actually sing.
Agree. Couldn't call it the smiths without Rourke, and if Morrissey gets within 50 square miles of Joyce it's over for him. Johnny's songs are always ruined by lacklustre lyrics and non-existent singing, and Morrissey's are ruined by the increasingly amateur band he claims are brilliant.

What’s The Smiths? And to whom? Anyway, it would be something to see them together on stage. One would be delusional to expect it to be the same. And it’s possible it could be better.

So I guess this is an age thing for you. Yeah, old people are yucky, they can’t possibly deliver a night of great music.

No, the lack of any connection for almost a lifetime is the issue I have with it, imagine working with someone for a couple of years when you leave school, you grow to hate the bastard , but people expect you to work with him again in your 60s, because the other fella has decided he wants to for some reason.

That’s unfortunate. I guess that view would get in the way of enjoying the music.

Can’t speak for others, but I’m not expecting Marr to do anything just because M now wants to. But if Marr has a change of heart, I still think it could be a fabulous night for many people.

War is old, music will always be young.

The Smiths were:
Morrissey, vocals
Johnny Marr, guitar
Andy Rourke, bass/funkiness
Mike Joyce, drums

Craig Gannon, rhythm guitar 1986

There’s no subjectivity to this. This is what they were. Now, Andy has passed on, Joyce is hated, Craig left the band in ‘86. Morrissey’s willingness to reunite as The Smiths, during this period of being an absolute pariah, is understandable, but tacky.

I didn't mean to imply you were expecting anything, Just that M&M clearly have no time for each other, if Marr had said yes then Moz would have found a reason to say no so he could make a similar New Order joke lol

With the Oasis reunion you're essentially getting the same Oasis but with more grey hair and a slightly better chance that Liam won't push Noel over the edge before the tour finishes.

Musically M&M would be incredible but I don't think there's anything there that could make them want to be on stage together for more than ten minutes

you wonder what they would even sing as M has said his voice isnt suited to a lot of smiths songs now.
