In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

Preview of what would happen if Morrissey and Marr shared a stage together?

See? We don't need that aggravation.
That happened in Boston last night haha

Then Johnny's principals should prevent him from attending or accepting when, inevitably, the Smiths are inducted into the RR Hall of Fame.
I think because those awards are taking place around now, speculative articles are appearing mentioning The Smiths, such as these two:

- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: 20 bands that deserve to be inducted:

The Smiths

A band that evaporated in the ’80s and has never reunited is yet another Manchester-based group, whose short five years of existence were a profound influence on countless other groups, including many that have covered the popular songs written by vocalist Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr, both of whom went on to thriving solo careers. Rounded out by now-deceased bass player Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce, the group only released four studio albums during their short tenure, which may explain why they’ve never been inducted into the Rock Hall. And 35 years after breaking up, there is still ill will between Morrissey and Marr, possibly another reason why they’ve been overlooked." -

- " The Smiths

Eligible since:
2009

Nominations: 2

Why: Maybe they think the bratty Stephen “Moz” Morrissey will just cancel hours before appearing? These guys were influential in the same way The Velvet Underground was: every one of their fans went on to start a band. Johnny Marr is one of the more underrated guitarists of his generation." -

If the Smiths are inducted, you know Morrissey will be there with bells on, he loves awards. Johnny's the one who's said he doesn't care about it. I'll bet Mike Joyce would only be too happy to be there as well. It will be a lovely awkward scene.
