Morrissey Central "WAR IS OLD, ART IS YOUNG" (August 29, 2024)

In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

I did see the Smiths 3 and a bit times other than that I am in the same camp as this person.

This is what I mean and seeing them side by side really drives the point home. Johnny may not be the best vocalist in the world, but he has a respect for the Smiths songs that Morrissey just does not have. Johnny's playing and his band are just excellent, esp live if you are there and hear it instead of hearing it over a video taken by a phone. Morrissey does not respect these songs at all, he does not respect the legacy at all, unless he can make some cash from it like he is trying to do now. Frankly, I find this whole fiasco so off putting and I can see other people on other social media sites do too.

I wonder what Stephven Pratrick Morrissey will do when Johnny Marr is announced as one of the support-build up acts for Oasis....?

...and The Blossoms 🌸 ...who 'might' invite Rick Astley to join them on a few crowd-pleasers...I'm just reading the tea leaves, baby...no need to shout at me! ...
I think in addition to Morrissey's other inadequacies, he is feeling very left out of this whole Manchester scene thing

Maybe you should read the tweet again.

...I don't think you can single out Morrissey and Marr for such activities.

I can. I have just done so. What are you gonna do about it?

They both lied, pretended that The Smiths were 'the last gang in town', inseparable blood brothers in arms...you clearly haven't read the earliest fanzine interviews...it's all there...no wonder Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke were 'a bit miffed' to discover the financial skullduggery.

If it had been made contractually clear they were 'lawnmower parts' then this wouldn't be such a grave issue. But it is. Judge Weeks correctly dismissed that hissy fit bitch Morrissey as 'devious, truculent and unreliable' when it came to his own interests.

Morrissey was so fcukin delulu that he took his nonsensical arguments to the High Court, allegedly had to flee legal creditors who tried to put a charge against his mother's house- presumably his name was on the deeds? Then sulked like a spoiled brat in Los Angeles for several years kicking his Wounded ego. What a chumpasaurus!

At least Marr eventually saw sense, realising the legal and egregiously unethical basis upon which the stitch up was done and settled before accruing ruinous costs.

Contract law matters. Morrissey isn't shy about using legal manoeuvres in gig contracts when 'at fault' clauses are triggered by broken toilets, low temperatures, bbq smells and minor illnesses. He is, frankly, beyond satire and has been from the get-go.

Enjoy his singing and silly lyrics but if you take him seriously on anything to do with politics or his vendetta with the music business then you're as estranged from consensus reality as he is.

For Britain? Fcuk right off with that bollocks, mt8. Until you recant, retract and apologise me and my mates will do EVERYTHING we can to marginalise, criticise and debunk your vast catalogue of lies. Don't like this? Then sue me, clown 🤡...see what happens when a fcukin jumped up disco boy from Stretford gets in the ring with the B10 BrummieBoy - the Ultima Thule #Bcfc-z Ubermensch B10 masculinist Superhero of your fcukin dreams, sunshine 🌞...do one 'Moz'...that passport photo is really nice...when will you Accept Yourself, son?

Best wishes

I'm not going to do anything, because you're entitled to your opinion.

(and I respect that others see things differently to me)

Do what they like and see what happens. Maybe new songs.
But if its just a tour of old men, I prefer continuing the old younger images
from the last century. They've both played all these songs hundreds of times
with great musicians. Not sure how putting them together for a replay
makes any difference

You seem confused now, but this has gone on too long.
I’m not confused, and the only thing that has gone on long enough are your incessant comments.

“It’s distasteful that he’s doing it for a money grab, other fans on social media also don’t like him/think he’s doing it for the money/hate his work/hate him, Johnny doesn’t want anything to do with him, Johnny has decided he doesn’t want him in his life in any way whatsoever….”

This is all you. And the point is, that you spend hundreds of hours here, and, in fact, you don’t actually know any of those things. Because again - those are all the things that you want to be incontravertibly true.

And when all these types of comments are the only ones you primarily make, or the only types that leave you “perfectly satisfied”… it’s truly laughable that you would be so disconnected from your own comments and presence here on this site so as to think that… *I’m* confused?

Oh, sweetie. I’m not confused about anything here on this site at all.

love me some toxic homoerotic friendship
You want the real reason Moz is such an obsessive, hypersensitive, mercurial creature over Johnny, this is it.

Any response from Mr Marr yet?

I believe a vast majority of us wants to see them both on a stage playing those great tunes we love so much....!

They should bury the hatchet, have a hug, and sign the AEG contract!

We love you guys, time is short don't be cruel!

'If it's not love, then it's the bomb that will bring us together'

I'm not a huge fan of this sort of 'nostalgia act' stuff. But it can be fun too. Any 'live' event is exactly that - lots of human beings gathering together, who knows, perhaps with the aid of some intoxicants, to have a great time and hear some great music and singing, maybe sing along, and dance around. I really don't care if it's old men on stage, or old women, or young men, or young women. But I do care if the people on stage obviously don't like each other and there is zero chemistry. The best bands work a little bit of magic on stage. Live events are a gestalt - something greater than the sum of its parts. And if there is no chemistry or liking between Marr and Morrissey, as seems the case, then it really is best left in the past.

though friction has been well known to spark chemistry.

Besides some of their record collection and desire for fame, how much did they really have in common back in the day.

Yes, I think they were always very different. The contrast between the two was what worked, just like Lennon and McCartney. But they did also appear to like each other - at least until 1986/87. It is clear that Johnny doesn't like the guy any more. Maybe Johnny is just an arrogant, woke prat. Maybe he has good reason not to like Morrissey any more. The dig about New Order wasn't exactly an olive branch.

Ah, but when the music starts on stage, quibbles on the internet will surely take a backseat.

Morrissey knows this, he’s just reminding Marr who they are.
