In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

I hope you know you do not have to answer anyone who is asking why you are giving posts a thumbs down. But, you did make a very good post, very well stated.
not a problem! I thought Gordon deserved to know, maybe I wronged him by raining thumbs down on his posts, besides how can I refuse when someone asks me to contribute to a highly debated topic lol

This is such a happy little pop confection, much better than the depressing material which I don't even think deserve to be called songs that Morrissey has been putting out. And oh look! an actual professional band who can play!

I did like your contribution :)

I think you misread my post. I was paraphrasing what the likes of Johnny Marr think about Morrissey and Farage suggesting anything of that nature. Johnny appears to be a fully signed up member of the DEI brigade. Repeating 'diversity is our strength' over and over again until everyone believes it would appear to be Johnny's only response to either the Manchester Arena bombing or Southport. The real question is - why would Morrissey want to share a stage with a 'silly person' like Johnny Marr?
Got ya.

Johnny Marr has been musically more interesting since his solo debut in 2012 than Moz has been during that same period. Better productions, gorgeous arrangements and stronger melodies. He’s no poet, though, but judging by Morrissey’s output during these years, neither is he.

The last album was great...what are you on about?

Maybe he's looking at that top Johnny's wearing.:lbf:
I am not a fan of Johnny's shirt there, but Morrissey is wearing this so he's hardly in a position to judge.

his voice is terrible, its soulless, take away his guitar playing and he would be working on a building site.
east coast elite, sounds like an escort agency.

And yet he gets fantastic reviews Gordy and I think I will take Stephen Streets thoughts on him rather than someone who has never seen him live.

I saw @Johnny_Marr play H’smith Apollo earlier this year and he sounded fantastic.

Morrissey will go on being Morrissey, he’s still very good at it, and does it better than anyone else. I don’t know about embarrassment, but we all know Johnny cares about his reputation and the career he wants to continue with, couldn’t take the risk of working with someone as outspoken as Morrissey is, specifically in these times.

Ah, so you’ve had a change of heart already? ;)
Not a change of heart just an acknowledgement that if its done right and for the right reasons it could be fun.

Marr sings the Smiths’ Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want beautifully: the combination of acoustic guitar, flutes, xylophones and brass is magical.

That's a great review. While I have been critical of his solo work I can honestly say I enjoyed his songs live. There was an electricity in the air, the crowd was very animated and excited. There was a 20 year old kid standing next to me who came alone, so my husband and I hung out with him a bit and we talked a bit and it was really nice to see younger people there. The Smiths songs are just fantastic, his version of London live is so good. He and Bernard Sumner can both take songs they've written and play them just slightly differently each time, and you can tell the difference, but it always sounds really good. Both excellent front men, I am not sure Bernard gets all the credit he deserves as a guitarist.

Bernard’s guitars in Joy Division are completely magnificent.

After sleeping restlessly about it for 1-2 nights, I've come to the conclusion, that Morrissey's commentary on Johnny Marr's live status 2024 will actually be impossible for him to process. That's it.
