In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

I would love Johnny to explain his reasons whilst leaving some kind of door open, it could change everything. "Any reunion would need to be personal before it was professional, I love The Smiths too much to do it just for money". Something like that.

A foot in the door, something to get them talking. In the old days they had a very DIY approach to touring, they sat and worked out all the details together, they weren't just presented with an itinerary and a paycheck.

I have never really wanted a musical reunion but by now, I have seen Johnny playing with so many other bands and more 'guest singers' than could be counted, some worse than others. And whether it's Tim Booth, Barney, Brandon Flowers or whoever at the mic, I've never watched it without wishing the guest was M. I don't need a worldwide tour. One song, one 'guest spot' and a hug and I'd be thrilled. It's not so hard.

I would not be surprised if Johnny did not want to talk about it and just continues to move on. Once old wounds heal, people generally do not like to reopen them.
We should all learn from Bennifer 2.o, you can't go back;)

Moz dropped a bomb and sent him to Johnny's front. . It's all very strange, both appearances 1 of Marr and now Moz with this confession... I wonder what is behind this whole situation. For them to be together again there must be an affectionate approach, deep down they love each other. I think that if they don't do it with and for the love of what they created, the meeting will not work, if they do it for money it will be noticed and it is better that it does not happen. Moz and Johnny must talk, they are adults and if they really feel it, they must return. The Smiths was pure feeling on stage. If they no longer feel it, it will show. MozMarr Reflection

I agree with this. The way Morrissey put it, it seems they were never even a room together to talk about it. This would be the complete wrong approach for Johnny, he is a people person, needs that personal contact to see if they still had a connection. If this went through corporate channels and management and lawyers, of course he would say no. But could he say no to an old friend face to face who explained to him why they should agree to do it? Instead it's a blog post and an insult.

Moz I love you!! Still, despite the fiasco of cancellations in Argentina and many other countries. Moz, I'll wait for you, I forgave you! .He is My dear mystical-eyed Mozuchis!!

I wonder what changed Mozzer’s stance on this? I find it hard to believe it’s money, or is he calling Marr’s bluff? I still think the last (and best) chance of reforming was squandered in 2008; Morrissey was still in top form, about to release possibly his last decent album and still highly revered in the media. Marr seemed to be getting his mojo back and had reconnected with Andy Rourke. If it happened it would still be good, but it wasn’t like the old days anymore…

amy sadly i cant see it happening as they are totally different people now, music, politics, family.
M doesnt have family that he needs to go home to whereas johnboy has angie,a world tour could last up to a year.
i would be quite happy with no tour but they get on better, cant even see that happening.

who is this athosique, handing out thumbs downs like confetti at a wedding,at least contribute so we know where you stand.

Johnny Marr has been musically more interesting since his solo debut in 2012 than Moz has been during that same period. Better productions, gorgeous arrangements and stronger melodies. He’s no poet, though, but judging by Morrissey’s output during these years, neither is he.

I think he would. Johnny can sing the songs himself now.

dont think people who have paid for the smiths would be happy with johnboy singing the songs, because lets face it his voice isnt very good.
