In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

Exactly. Despite Marr's Farage tweet, I don't think it's about political differences. Imagine being Johnny Marr, agreeing to the reunion, only to wake up one day in a hotel room in Milwaukee or something and seeing Morrissey all over on TV saying something like "well, we could tour Germany, but does that mean Germans will get to see the Smiths?" or something, Then your phone beeps immediately with 800 messages all saying "run until you can" and another 900 calls from news outlets to comment on it...then you walk down to Milwaukee Stadium or whatever for the soundcheck only to learn Morrissey took an early morning plane back to Switzerland or wherever, leaving you behind to clean the mess up.
I am convinced Marr considered this and thought "there's not enough money for me to put up with this".

As had been said numerous times on here, he could have chosen any party that had a good record on animal rights. He chose the Nazis. And it became apparent via his multiple postings and quotes, that he endorsed extreme far right candidates. That's fact. Whether you like it or not.

This broken record played over and over so long that I can assure you no one needs a reminder of you thinking Morrissey is a Nazi. People who have never heard of Morrissey or Nazis know you drive this exaggerated mantra everywhere you go. You Brits and your super lightweight version of "far right" need to spend some time with The Proud Boys so you can see just how harmless Morrissey is.

The funny part of that interview was the stipulation to reunite with Moz was they both had to do.

On the positive side, this little arms-length communication may actually prompt the two of them to properly get in touch privately, and actually speak to each other to work out their issues like grown men.

However, given Morrissey's previous behaviour, I can understand Johnny being VERY way about how much of this statement is factual, and how much it's just a means of dissing Johnny, and playing mind games with him. Does he really want to get involved in this drama again, when clearly his is perfectly content and happy doing his solo shows? Or is Morrissey just setting him up to make contact and say he'll accept, get the validation of 'oh, so you do need me after all?; then dump him again.

Ultimately, I don't think Morrissey had any positive intentions in posting this other than to take a swipe, and Johnny is gonna be very wary of taking it at face value.

Any word from AEG? Was this a real offer or a rumor of an offer? I'm not taking Morrissey's word for it. I feel like he's riding on Oasis' coattails: "Well I was offered a reunion as well! It could be me all over the news if it wasn't for Johnny!"

IF Morrissey's statement is genuine, I wouldn't be surprised if part of his conditions would be dragging Jesse along as the new Craig Gannon/2nd guitarist for 'The Smiths 2.0'. The guy is attached like a limpet, and will not be prised off - even by Johnny.
