In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

What would be the point? Who would play bass and drums? The Smiths were Morrissey, Marr, Rourke and Joyce, and since Rourke is dead and Joyce is forever persona non grata, they wouldn’t be The Smiths. Morrissey & Marr, sure, but not The Smiths.

Morrissey has never shown any particular loyalty to his rhythm section, who are very much in the 'replaceable lawnmower parts' mould - so I can't see him caring at all if the drummer and bassist came from Johnny's band.

He is inseparable from Jesse however, and I expect would insist on having him along as 2nd guitarist and 'comfort blanket' on the road.

Unless all this 'war' is confected to create publicity? Maybe this tour in 2025 will happen?

War, with that pic and title? Nah. Moz would never have agreed in the first place, if there was war. If you want gunpowder, read what Moz wrote about Geoff Travis, Julie Burchill, Johnny Rogan et al. This post is a cuddle and a cup of tea in comparison, complete with beautiful picture from the Smiths heyday. Hell, even the open letter was ended with an image of Hand in Glove.
