In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

A reunion would never work. Morrissey has been the ruler of his own little kingdom for decades. He could never function in a partnership where his say in final decisions is only fifty percent.

Marr has seen and tolerated Morrissey’s diva behavior for years. I can’t blame him for ignoring the offer to do it all over again.

Morrissey only wants a reunion because his kingdom is crumbling. That’s all. This is not about the legacy, the music or the fans. It’s about Morrissey’s pension fund.

There is no point to a reunion unless they meet up first and thrash out their differences. Also Joyce and Gannon should be involved. Had Marr agreed to the tour as well without either having communicated with each other then the resulting situation would have been rather odd.

Would I be happier Morrissey getting together Boorer, Whyte, Day and Cobrin. The Classic Morrissey line up to tour a Pre Maldjusted set list? Than this not Really The Smiths thing? I think I would.

And if I were Morrissey, I'd get together the best The Smiths cover band there is in the UK, Stephen Street as music director, and do a World Tour in 2025 playing all four The Smiths' albums. That would be great!

Hehe! Actually, I think having women in the band is one of the very few positive things about 2020s Morrissey. Would love it if they started contributing songs.

Anyway, picture Morrissey in his dressing room before the show with a pair of scissors

You'd have to say that when Moz 'backed out' of a reunion in 2008, things were pretty sweet for him after the releases of Quarry and Ringleader etc. Playing to large crowds and big money rolling in.

Fast forward to 2024 and things are quite different from Morrissey's side now. A lot has changed in that time (including the passing of some people very close to them, which obviously puts things in perspective)

he could’ve done both.

Sounds like what he objects to (and what he is truly bitter and twisted about) is
Morrissey’s ongoing refusal to do a cheesy (but very lucrative) reunion.

If the only reason either of them would do it is for the money, then I don't want them to reunite. Why pay hundreds if not thousands to watch two guys who hate each other on stage.

why would anyone getting a lucrative payout
be hateful to each other on stage. If the Oasis
guys can do it, why not them. Plenty of the Oasis fans don’t mind.
