In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

If the only reason either of them would do it is for the money, then I don't want them to reunite. Why pay hundreds if not thousands to watch two guys who hate each other on stage.

A friendship sadly lost?
Well this is true...and yet, it's false
Oh...
But did I ever tell you, by the way?
I never did like your face
But you've got everything now
You've got everything now
And what a terrible mess I've made of my life
Oh, what a mess I've made of my life

That could literally be said by either of them about the other, depending on which side of the fence you're on, and how you view things.

Except the face thing.

I do think they liked each other's faces!

So stand your ground and persist
And be the last one to blink
But can you forgive someone?
And if you do
I'll run to you
Betray you, with a word
I would slit my own throat first

The black peat of the hills
When I was Still Ill
See this mess and forgive someone

Maybe Noel will end up talking Johnny into it. Or maybe from a close position in the wings at the Oasis reunion, Johnny will see for himself all of the potential pitfalls.
I think Morrissey and Marr do need a mutual friend to bang their heads together, and tell them to stop playing silly buggers. I suspect Chrissie Hynde is probably the only person left who might have both their ears.

I'm not sure if Marr really needs it though. Sure, a shed-load of money is nice, and it would make loads of fans happy - but to have to slog through a tour and stand on stage with someone you no longer have any chemistry with, does he need the money that badly? For all that Morrissey is trying to bait him, I expect Johnny genuinely enjoys supporting New Order, and sees that as a preferrable option.

The politics of all this are interesting. And make no mistake - this is about politics. Johnny's use of a pic of Nigel Farage makes that clear. Morrissey wants to come back in from the wilderness. A Smiths reunion tour in 2o25 would undoubtedly do that. And then he could sign a record deal and release Bonfire, followed by Without Music. Johnny is basically saying - no, you're not using me to rehabilitate yourself. Your suggestion that there was manipulation of the public response to the Manchester Arena bombing, is as contemptible as Farage's recent suggestion that there was manipulation of the public response to the Southport stabbings. The repercussions of that Bonfire song just never seem to stop. They're really are some things we're simply not supposed to talk about. Or sing about.

It goes without saying but ...
Marr has never been more successful or more acclaimed, and Morrissey has never been more desperate. 100% the right call from Marr.
Marr's solo albums now comfortably outsell Morrissey's and receive tons more critical acclaim (https://www.metacritic.com/music/fever-dreams-pts-1-4/johnny-marr). If Marr wants to respond to Morrissey's pathetically bitchy New Order support act put-down, simply quote the sales for each of their last solo albums. Marr's new songs also get played on the radio - Morrissey's get ignored.
An amazing thing but the guitarist from the Smiths is now a more successful singer than the singer from The Smiths.
In terms of live audiences, Morrissey's will still be bigger overseas where his political idiocy was less reported in the news, but in the UK they now attract similar size crowds.
Things have been looking up, relatively, for Morrissey recently though - hopefully they will continue to improve with a successful autumn tour and the release of the new songs soon but please no more of this desperate ugly nonsense.

Sky News are reporting that they have contacted AEG Entertainment Group, as well as Marr, for a response.

what about the two Farage related put downs? not pathetic? It feels like Marr is fueling this war and Morrissey is responding, although not in a mature fashion.

Many, many people are falling over themselves to pay over the odds in order to witness just that with Noel and Liam. Strange eh?

Marr wrote about his sporadic meetings with Morrissey since The Smiths split in his 2016 autobiography and claimed there had been a "real prospect" of a reunion in 2008, but the singer rebuffed the idea.

Anyone has that section from his autobiography where Johnny writes about Morrissey turning down the reunion in 2008?

Because most people are stupid. Which is why Labour were voted in instead of Reform.

There was complete manipulation to responding with f***ing bees to the Manchester Arena Islamic bombing. What are you on about?
