Morrissey Central "WAR IS OLD, ART IS YOUNG" (August 29, 2024)

In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

If only Morrissey was man enough to talk openly with Marr once, in private and the butler wasn't even allowed to sit at the next table. No net, no double bottom.

No cucumber sandwiches, not even for ready money.

(Morrissey ate them all before Marr arrived)

So does this mean Morrissey has nothing going on for 2025? No album release to tour on or would he force Johnny to play Notre Dame? Willing to dump his current band? Even Jesse?
Why do you infer that a reunion tour with Marr means he has no other prospects?

Or that it would imply that he'd jettison his backing band permanently? It should be seen as a side-gig. No more, no less.

Morrissey and Marr will never share a stage ever again.

The topic rears its head every so often, but nothing ever happens, and nothing will ever happen.

Morrissey keeps an eye on everything. If someone says something about him, he knows. And if it's something unflattering, he almost always responds.

This statement with its withering put down of Johnny is simply Morrissey's response to Johnny's Farage post. Ping pong.

The Smiths is dead.

I think he put it best in 1992:

I infer nothing, those are questions. But since you brought it up, he seems to be low on options.

This will probably rumble on all through the Oasis shows.
.....and culminates in both of them coming on stage for the encore in Manchester and playing 3 songs acoustically:

I won't share you
Please Please Please
Stretch out and wait...

While the Gallagher bros stand stage side as guests in their own show.

I think you people are reading this wrong. Well, some of you.

Morrissey was probably deeply affected by Andy dying. If I had to guess, that is likely what started his about-face on his anti-reunion stance. His recent post extolling the timelessness of The Smiths was a sign that there was something was going on behind the well-established scenes. Maybe just in his own head, but maybe not.

Marr knows Morrissey is a drama queen. This little snipe isn't going to offend him...it's part of Morrissey's game. Marr knows it, but is helpless but to play along and get sucked in. They'll work things out.

This is Morrissey's way of getting Marr exactly where he wants him. He knows how much Marr cares about his (own) reputation. Morrissey may be a drama whore but Marr is an attention whore. Marr knows the public want this. He's too afraid of being the bad guy, or the mean old man, who doesn't give the public what it wants.

Whereas Morrissey has NEVER been afraid to be seen as the bad guy. Morrissey has NOTHING to lose at this point. Marr does.

This reminds me of a scene in Batman 1989. Where Joker hacks a TV station and issues a message to Batman to take him on. It's the exact same thing here. Morrissey isn't being a bitch to Marr...he's baiting him. There's a difference. And it will work.

Marr is dumb. He's always been dumb.

Morrissey...not so much.

I've just taken a look at some of the stories which are landing in the media now, off the back of this.
They are going to be more painful for Johnny than Morrissey, and I think what you are saying definitely has some truth to it.

Marr seems to pride himself on his likeability and perceived popularity.

These media stories are working to frame him as an unlikable and unpopular support act.

Ouch!

It's 35 degrees here on the banks of Father Rhine and Morrissey's direct defensiveness is wearing me down even more. It's squeezing my skull. Literally.

Who knows if true....

I think the last statements from both really put the final nail in the coffin on them reforming. IF they did, I assume its just them (no Mike).......I bet they would've made some coin. It would've have been interesting to see who the band would've been. Oh well.....

Well exactly

Perhaps an option for for Johnny to put it all this to bed: an invite to Moz to join him and his band?
You seem to think someone has to do something, they don't.

Think he's losing his mind, Johnny did one date with New Order, had a UK solo tour in April and has been playing festivals throughout the summer. Johnny is also touring the USA next month co headlining with James. Nice picture of them at G-Mex.

take it that M is generalizing. They’re all opening slots for N.Order to him.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Johnny has his own US tour with James, with more dates than Morrissey. I think Morrissey is capable of going to Johnny's site and checking what he is really up to instead of being the nasty little bitch he is.
