In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

I've already written about it elsewhere. Imagine your best friend from ninth grade. You go your separate ways and at 60 they try to get you to get back together, but you have nothing in common with him except the past. But that's not enough for some people.

Haha spot on.

We'll see. Maybe they'll both get bored and run out of ideas for clever responses. The happy buzz going around is infectious - bet every bass player who knows Johnny will be dusting down their Smiths collection, willing the bat phone to ring.
This isn't a game. They had serious problems.

Regardless of the bitchiness between our esteemed heroes, I pray pray pray that no reunion happens. It could NEVER be the same and they would just become yet another two money-hungry old whores, capitalising on pissy nostalgia. Personally, I've never bought into Marr's nice guy image and there has been plenty of times over the years when he has thrown Mozzer under the bus. Any Smiths reunion would besmirch and sully their incredible musical legacy, a legacy that will always be all the more remarkable given the brevity of the existence of the group.

Thanks for dropping by to give us your real thoughts, Morrissey.

I think you people are reading this wrong. Well, some of you.

Morrissey was probably deeply affected by Andy dying. If I had to guess, that is likely what started his about-face on his anti-reunion stance. His recent post extolling the timelessness of The Smiths was a sign that there was something was going on behind the well-established scenes. Maybe just in his own head, but maybe not.

Marr knows Morrissey is a drama queen. This little snipe isn't going to offend him...it's part of Morrissey's game. Marr knows it, but is helpless but to play along and get sucked in. They'll work things out.

This is Morrissey's way of getting Marr exactly where he wants him. He knows how much Marr cares about his (own) reputation. Morrissey may be a drama whore but Marr is an attention whore. Marr knows the public want this. He's too afraid of being the bad guy, or the mean old man, who doesn't give the public what it wants.

Whereas Morrissey has NEVER been afraid to be seen as the bad guy. Morrissey has NOTHING to lose at this point. Marr does.

This reminds me of a scene in Batman 1989. Where Joker hacks a TV station and issues a message to Batman to take him on. It's the exact same thing here. Morrissey isn't being a bitch to Marr...he's baiting him. There's a difference. And it will work.

Marr is dumb. He's always been dumb.

Morrissey...not so much.

This was over te top, not the info on the reunion offer.
Typical Central language "largeley sold out" and reducing Johnny to a support or special guest act.
He getas along with people and is well respected by many musicians, Morrissey.
Yes, Morrissey is being vindictive, I agree. Johnny has his own US tour with James, and it is for more dates than Morrissey, starts in Sept, I am sure Morrissey knows this, he is just being his usual bitchy self

Genuine question - Does that mean that M. said yes to touring as The Smiths with JM if Mike Joyce was not included?
Joyce will not be involved at all.

I remember being a kid in 1993, I think there was a magazine article, an interview with Marr, where he said if they ever reformed it would just be him and Morrissey.

But I could be conflating interviews. They both talked a lot back then about each other and it was a long time ago.

Yes like the Gallaghers, actually seeing them together on stage without things going pear-shaped again. Let alone a tour. All the issues will still be there.
The Gallaghers are brothers, it's completely different. And they both wanted it, Johnny does not want it.

And apart from the 2nd night in LA and 2 other dates, the tour is completely sold out.

Judge John Weeks described the lead singer, Stephen Morrissey, as "devious, truculent and unreliable"

Morrissey has proven the judge was right time and time again.
You know, you think this would be Morrissey's rock bottom. Everyone keeps leaving him, he has 2 albums he can't release, started public feuds with a few people over the past few years and now Johnny still wants nothing to do with him. The judge was right, Morrissey is a morally bankrupt person who refuses to change.

Yes he does. Johnny wants anything that will bring him popularity and the approval of the public. He'll cave.
I know you little children want mommy and daddy back together for the sake of the kids, but it's not happening

But Moz is at the centre of all this attention, where he likes to be.

I don't care what he wants or what he likes, he is completely toxic and that is why people run from him
