I think Stephen Street is spot on here -

Always doubtful that a reunion would happen, especially now that Andy has gone. Unlike #Oasis , The Smiths were always more than just 2 people as their true fans know. I saw
@Johnny_Marr play H’smith Apollo earlier this year and he sounded fantastic. Barbs like this won’t help

Don’t ignore the ‘art is young’ part. Or the accompanying photograph.

I have to say, that's important to note.

I think most people realise that Morrissey is driven by art.

Yes, he likes money too.

But good art generally happens to make money, so it's win win from that point of view.

I'm not sure anyone could genuinely say he would be doing it just for money.

So does this mean Morrissey has nothing going on for 2025? No album release to tour on or would he force Johnny to play Notre Dame? Willing to dump his current band? Even Jesse?

I love The Smiths, my favoutive ever band, I never saw them live.

I’d give one of my kidneys to see them perform, if only once. Johnny, please make it happen!
We’ve waited long enough.
I did...almost 38 years ago to the day! Holy shit. It was 1986, Morrissey, Johnny, Andy, Mike, and Craig all in their primes physically and musically. You'd never see that level of greatness--not even close, but it would still be cool. I'd definitely go.

Genuine question - Does that mean that M. said yes to touring as The Smiths with JM if Mike Joyce was not included?

I really think it's too much of a stretch to see Morrissey and Joyce sharing a stage again, after what went down. Hopefully they can have a polite exchange in passing one day though, that would be something at least.

This is not a rant or an hysterical bombast. It is a polite and calmly measured request: Would you please stop mentioning my name in your interviews?

Would you please, instead, discuss your own career, your own unstoppable solo achievements and your own music?

If you can, would you please just leave me out of it?

The fact is: you don’t know me. You know nothing of my life, my intentions, my thoughts, my feelings. Yet you talk as if you were my personal psychiatrist with consistent and uninterrupted access to my instincts. We haven’t known each other for 35 years - which is many lifetimes ago. When we met you and I were not successful. We both helped each other become whatever it is we are today. Can you not just leave it at that? Must you persistently, year after year, decade after decade, blame me for everything … from the 2007 Solomon Islands tsunami to the dribble on your grandma’s chin ?

You found me inspirational enough to make music with me for 6 years. If I was, as you claim, such an eyesore monster, where exactly did this leave you? Kidnapped? Mute? Chained? Abducted by cross-eyed extraterrestrials? It was YOU who played guitar on ‘Golden Lights’ - not me.

Yes, we all know that the British press will print anything you say about me as long as it’s cruel and savage. But you’ve done all that. Move on. It’s as if you can’t uncross your own legs without mentioning me. Our period together was many lifetimes ago, and a lot of blood has streamed under the bridge since then. There comes a time when you must take responsibility for your own actions and your own career, with which I wish you good health to enjoy. Just stop using my name as click-bait. I have not ever attacked your solo work or your solo life, and I have openly applauded your genius during the days of ‘Louder than bombs’ and ‘Strangeways, here we come’, yet you have positioned yourself ever-ready as rent-a-quote whenever the press require an ugly slant on something I half-said during the last glacial period as the Colorado River began to carve out the Grand Canyon. Please stop. It is 2022, not 1982.

Morrissey. January 2022.

The nerve of Mike Joyce wanting to get his fair share! What a greedy bastard!
I like Mike Joyce, and respect that he fought for his share. Good on him. But I doubt he's in any way ready to tour on drums. So it's just Morrissey and Marr if it happens at all. Marr's band will be much more capable than Morrissey's which would be another bone of contention... Anyway, fun speculating about something that will never happen!

Man, I don't know if I'd use the term never. Both careers are winding down. Both have a lifestyle to maintain, I'd put it at 50%. If Keith Richards can write a book and say Mick Jagger has a "tiny todger" and still reunite for several tours and an album, Morrissey and Marr can patch things up in the name of business, if nothing else.

True. He also said, that the funniest time was when they stuck things up each other's bums. And yet Keith still stands next to Mick on stage.

If only Morrissey was man enough to talk openly with Marr once, in private and the butler wasn't even allowed to sit at the next table. No net, no double bottom.
