The setlist certainly seems to favour the 'second half' of Morrissey's career, from the naughties to the present day. Although it was great to see 'Jim' added on the first night. Classic Morrissey.

There have been a lot of complaints about him reusing very similar setlists, but as someone who has yet to see him live, I honestly wouldn't care what he plays if/when I get to see him. It could be the worst setlist of his life, the band could butcher all the songs, he could perform Frankie Valli-style, but I'd probably still be satisfied. And I'm not a sycophant or a new fan. It likely wouldn't inspire me to keep attending future dates, though.

That's a nice viewpoint. I haven't been critical that he doesn't change the setlists much from city to city (he's mostly playing to different fans). I have been disappointed that with his amazing catalog, he chooses so many lackluster songs.

They left on good terms. If we believe Alains camp and I have no reason not to.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if this had changed since then.

Especially if all the songs replaced on the 2nd album were Alain's, it would be difficult to see it as anything but retaliation for leaving.

Alain left nearly 2 years ago. I think they left on good terms, as dneuer more than once has stated.

But Alain getting his own band together of ex-Morrissey band members and touring the Morrissey catalogue could easily have changed his mind.

At this point it’s all speculation though.

I just can’t wait for either camp to accidentally let slip what happened here to the wrong person after a few too many beers. The silence from both sides is deafening.

There was a interview with Joe C.,
where he said Moz didn't want songs
soundin' like the 90's Era.
Might have been the reason they were
replaced.
He kinda seems pretty inspired by the
new band too.

Alain leavin' was a blessin' in disguise.
The new band is super tight and the
positive energy that the ladies brought
is a breath of fresh air.

This forum would seem pretty intense for the average fan. I see young or new fans getting insulted regularly.

Quite. You have to be thick skinned at times for this place. It's like swimming with sharks. Nastiness to Morrissey and nastiness to others is often the order of the day. I think most social media is similar though to be honest. Online interaction definitely seems to reduce basic civility.

I'd rate Alain as the 3rd best songwriter Morrissey ever worked with after Johnny and Street (#1 in terms of volume). It's a shame we won't get to hear the new material they wrote together (or so it seems).

Would be nice if Alain were to play these songs with his own band. That way we can still hear them.

I’d rate Boz at least as highly as Alain actually.

Yeah, I hope he does. Boz wrote some classics for sure, but I was replying to the comment that Alain leaving is a blessing in disguise and somehow the band is better without him.

Yes, that could be. We don’t know yet what the new songwriters will bring in in terms of new material.

It’s interesting that he brought three long neglected Boorer-songs back to the live set for this tour.
