He should really stop playing the unexplainable Fatty and rest a bit Shoplifters and Jack the Ripper

Omg, Andy Rourke’s omission is so sad. It makes Morrissey’s eulogy seem insincere and written just for clickbait.
Morrissey can be criticized for many things , but his tribute to Andy is not one of them. It was so clearly genuine and just right considering the time and distance between them. He literally said that with Andy he was not prepared to come out with the usual blandishments that happen on someone’s death. It’s clear he valued Andy’s ‘unconventional and distinct’ talent. I think it’s more likely that the OP that brought up the topic of Andy in regards to the montage was looking for clickbait-like attention as usual.

Oh but Morrissey's tribute to Andy was absolutely the usual blandishments. Moz is perverse enough to do an In Memorium montage at a New Year's concert and he doesn't include the bass player of the Smiths who died recently? And I can guess at the reason - Andy would have gotten a huge cheer and Moz cannot stand to be upstaged.

prince is another one, apart from being vegan they have very little in common although i remember reading on here years ago that prince wanted to have dinner with morrissey but they just missed each other when they were performing in the same city.
cant see M dancing to sexy mother f..... ,then again noone knows what goes on behind closed doors.
I can see Moz dancing to Sexy Motherfu*ker Gordy, but it ain't pretty.

What's the question? I was saying people can get studio time and record a record if they pay for it. It's not some grand statement of talent that Morrissey got studio time and recorded some records.

Just clarification. I also manage record producers. Gotcha.

My point was just that given how weird he is about money, (not returning Supreme fee or Capitol advance until Scott Rodger embarrassed him into it) Morrissey can’t be happy having poured his own money into recording BoT once and Unnamed Unreleased LP#2 twice. He’s easily $500k in the hole on recording costs that in the past would have been paid for by the label.

That's why Rudolpho didn't get any Christmas presents.

Here is a playlist I’m compiling of clips from the NYE concert. For now there’s just 7 videos in it but I’m listening to more and putting them in as I listen.

he is, but this investment is what he is holding over the head of any potential deal -- much like the info you have provided, Moz would be selling the ownership of these recordings to Sun Records (whichever label) in perpetuity. if the deal was for Quarry through Dog plus BOT and Without Music, then one can see how the final number is the thing that led the entire deal to fall apart.

The record deal was complicated and involved publishing as well. While he has clearly spent a lot on recording, it’s not the reason the deal fell apart. Everything was bundled up into one deal, with one number that is a standard calculation for the value of someone’s publishing.

That number wasn’t to his liking, in the same way he still thinks he can sell out two arena shows in SoCal. A bit delusional, but the deal was still moving forward, as evidenced in the 8/5 post by Jesse about “forthcoming releases”.

Then the Smiths twitter stuff happened and here we are

right, and like a lot of artists that have been selling their publishing rights for millions as of late (the Offspring just got 35 million for theirs), he wanted something on par of others or more than the labels were offering for his one-time cash-out.

still, now he gets nothing and no one else is gonna offer up more.

Exactly.

He also could have done a smaller deal in order to get the records out, and then cash out on a publishing deal a month after the Smiths reunion shows are announced, when the value of his catalog will jump.

who is the beneficiary of the estate of M..... SER? Or will Damon flog the rights.

Wait, are you saying the deal fell apart because Johnny replied with a picture of Nigel Farage to a fan’s question about a Smiths reunion? Johnny has the power to not only veto the Smiths but torpedo Morrissey’s solo career as well?
