Morrissey certainly puts in a shift dragging this lot to a passable show. It is impressive how well his voice has held up as he has aged, compared to others (Elton, Jagger et al).
Part of me wishes he was with a proper, good band that could properly showcase his talent. These should be his golden twilight years, not his just-about-getting-away-with-it years.
Are you really saying you don't care for Jessie guitar playing.... I know I'm not a musician , and couldn't read the music to the songs.....But these are professionals, they have been playing along time......they can read the music, and notes....is it the brand guitar that is not right or are you truly saying they can't play the music that was written.... the individuals that do not like any band member that's not original, please tell me why , and break it down why . If you are mature enough to not be sarcastic on your reply.....I got to be missing something, because when I'm there everything is good. Maybe I don't expect it to be perfect, and I'm also bias to Boz and Alain(because of there loyalty and Lyric contributions), so I would notice any major difference.....I dont.......Love that he gave the girls a role.

So please tell me what you are hearing, seriously. I'm just curious 🤔

Smiths/Morrissey songs, performed badly. That’s what I’m hearing. Seriously.

Thanks for breaking it down, I get it now......you should pissed off at Johnny, he quit remember, we could be on Smiths studio lp about 35
And Alain quit, and Boz quit, and Gustavo Manzur quit…

I’m not bothered about a Morrissey/Marr re-union, but someone of MOZI’s stature/talent deserves more than a cobbled together group of session musicians.

Spiv is a WW2 reference to a 'dodgy' dealer.
There may be linkage to a film or 2 that Morrissey would appreciate (doubtful that it's as obvious a Dad's Army).

Matt at Newark:
"We are the spivs and I'm grateful to be back."
So, in short, it remains more cryptic than anything.
FWD.
From the little I've read, my impression is that spivs emerge when times are hard, and they are distinguished by dapper clothing and chipper attitudes, allowing them to rise above the bad vibes. More research needed...

Would it drive you crazy to know I was on the guest list last night?
Invited by your local NJ venue operators or music bookers, rather than by Morrissey's camp, presumably, for reasons Dorothy explains:
That’s great for you. But I wonder if you would have still got the comps if they knew you were on here insinuating Morrissey has a drinking problem, calling him inhumane and referring to a behind the scenes cluster f**k, talking about his ‘awful treatment’ of others and on and on?
Everything odbmke has said and done since Pete Galli dropped out justifies Morrissey's decision not to accept an offer from people associated with the former.
Not here to argue this issue, but there are things going on increasingly in Europe involving a crackdown. People will frequently yell out accusations when they don’t like someone else’s perspective . . . It’s easier to shut conversations down than to have open discourse.

Here’s a link to peruse about the state of free speech and censorship: https://www.thefire.org/news/blogs/...-prosecute-speech-further-afield-online-while

People are being punished for saying certain things. I've seen some independent journalists comment on the total lack of mainstream media coverage of the state's assault on usually non-establishment truth-tellers. Isn't it interesting how the writer of the review below about the Newark show can quote Morrissey's opinion on excessive controls endured by some fellow writers in the UK, without himself offering any opinion on what is going on, but framing his review as if Morrissey's concern is suspicious?
So scared to show intelligence
it might smear their lovely career

Morrissey anoints the faithful, talks free speech at NJPAC in Newark. See review, setlist.
Story by Chris Jordan.

For Morrissey, it's a free speech issue.

“As you know, nobody will release my music anymore,” said Morrisey from the NJPAC stage. “As you know because I'm a chief exponent of free speech. In England at least, it's now criminalized. You cannot speak freely in England. If you don't believe me, go there. Express an opinion, you'll be sent to prison. It's very, very difficult.”

Now this review ^ I like more :highfive:

I know some folk attending the Atlantic City show this evening, so especially warm wishes for imminent merriment 🥳

Perfect

Just watched this gig on YouTube with headphones on. Pretty mega. How Soon is Now was well powerful. Morrissey in best voice I've seen him in for a while. Veronica has female vocals back.

Yo yo! I was at the show. I am Veronica was the best song of the night. Need to get a studio release. Yeaaaa boiiiiiii

The full show is very enjoyable. Hug a Pillow sounds majestic. How Soon Is Now also sounds wonderful.
It's a shame he wasn't able to finish his train of thought during what he said about free speech being criminalised in England. He appears to become irritated by some loud mouth in the audience. Moz clearly wanted to say more on the topic. He really does need to give an interview.

Another batch of great photos!

How do you know how Jesus likes to be seen? I bet he loved being seen as a white man. White people are less than 20% of the planet, yet we have had such a fecking massive impact and influence
I bet he loved being played by Max von Sybow and Robert Powell According to a Rotten Tomatoes review he left, he didn't like being played by Donald Sutherland though.
You're so smart that I didn't understand your comment...... Haha haa ja ja 🤌🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just listened few songs from the set. I’m not going to see him in Europe in 2025 with these guitar players. Pathetic. Even Morrissey « stumbles » on his lyrics because of the lawnmowers. Sad.

its was recorded on a phone then compressed for youtube so it would have sounded better in the venue.
