because all their kids are up and away and they have money to burn now.
Adding to that… teenage girls who loved the Smiths and Morrissey in the 80s didn’t quit loving Morrissey, his songs, and live music just because they lived long enough to be middle aged. For many of us, our love of Morrissey has grown as we see more and more how very special he is now in a world of mediocrity.

No amount of rehearsing could fix this woeful outfit. At this point they're striving for mediocrity.
Sadly this is undoubtedly true. I know most newish fans lap this up but take it from someone who has heard him at his peak. This is not it, although I do sometimes see a little bit of it, it doesn’t carry throughout the entire show. I don’t blame the new musicians as much as I do Tobias. He is where the buck stops since he took over as Musical Director. He should be able to make them sound at least 80% decent. Years of rehearsals are not in the cards for him. Hey Jesse, it’s finally time to crack the whip. If you can’t make them sound great, hand over the reigns.

Fantastic! My fave song at the moment!

I'd push the boat out if you can, would love to be there for these shows.
Cheapest is 400. That’s a lot of blow, beer and jukebox credits. Nobody will miss me.

I thought the band with Alain, Brendan, and Gustavo even though it still had Jessie sounded very good. It's a miracle Alain returned and it's a shame issues weren't worked out to keep him, IMO.

Of course! The band is nowhere NEAR alain, gusto, boz, etc. Carmen has her fair share of mess ups and isn’t the greatest guitar player, but the concert was good. Moz was in high spirits and incredibly talkative, the venue was great, and the setlist was amazing. I try to not let the few stains ruin experiences like this for me
I was at the show last night and this was my exact takeaway, as well!

Yikes! This was dreadful, from Morrissey flubbing the lyrics to the band being completely lost on the track. SHJ is one of my favorites and I've never heard it performed so poorly. It's as if they just added it on a whim with no rehearsal.
I wonder if there was some technical difficulty as the drummer smacks his ear piece at the beginning and Jesse goes over the amp and picks something up about 10 times. It was definitely boring.

She obviously gets a pass by a lot of people because she's a woman. If she was a man and played like that she never would have been in the band to begin with. It's the sad truth people.
I agree, she is a woman and a lesbian, a DEI hire 'diversity'
I think she also gets a pass because this place is full of Morrissey sycophants

Just finished watching the gig thanks to baby j on Youtube! I thought it went great! There were a few times Moz seemed to be struggling with his voice, especially during Spring-Heeled Jim (was there a different set of voices talking in the background? I thought I heard a woman speaking), but I only really heard that during the new songs that were added to the setlist. All the songs he did on tour sounded fantastic! Especially I Ex Love You. I'll be listening to that all day at work tomorrow! ❤️

Black Cloud is definitely my favorite new song. It's one of those Johnny-adjacent songs that gets overlooked a lot on Years of Refusal, but this rendition has a lot more emotion behind it than the studio one, in my opinion. Maybe because of all that's recently happened with Johnny and the reunion stuff?

One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell still is lackluster for me. It never has been a favorite of mine, and it still continues to not really grab me. Lyrically it's just not as powerful as Sorry Doesn't Help and I'm Okay By Myself, which I see as continuations of Black Cloud, much like Maudlin Street and Angel, Angel. So I'm hoping that one gets swapped up at the next show.

And I thought this video be really cute to put here. It's Moz' performance of We Hate It on Amnesty International's Big 30th Birthday Celebration, December 28th, 1991!

But this is the best band he's ever had! Surely they can handle these tracks... He can make all the excuses he wants, there is no excuse for how poorly this sounds. It would never happen with Boorer or Whyte present.
In fairness, I believe he said “strongest”. Every single player in the band is more than competent, BUT whether some like it or not, there are some songs they as a band still have trouble with. Out of necessity, it’s suggested it’s merely a personal style being mixed in. It’s happened in other bands that lack any of the original members that wrote those great songs and M’s band is no different. Often doesn’t sit well with purists, but newer fans don’t generally care (or realize it). As long as everyone goes home happy, that’s all that matters.

He mentioned the band not having a ton of time to rehearse

Wow, you should be his publicist, you've got all the excuses down! An artist on this level should not have these types of glaring gaffs! And personal style? He's had this bad for a while now and they mostly stick to the same, lazy setlist. If people went home happy from this, they deserve what they get.
