This isn't just Marr commenting on a post for 'lols'.
Farage has been a 'thing' from 2016 (and I don't mean the faked Farage/Autobiography image):

2016:
The legendary guitarist says his bandmate's recent political proclamations suggest The Smiths are better off staying split up. And a reunion of The Smiths - briefly on the cards in 2008 - looks unlikely now, Marr said.
He said: "The question of The Smiths reformation, I understand why people ask me...
Johnny Marr has ruled out a reunion of The Smiths and distanced himself from his former bandmate Morrissey's political views.
Marr said he has written his autobiography to set the record straight after years of people writing "erroneous things" about him and cynically cashing in on the band's story.
He told Sky News that if reports Morrissey said he liked Nigel Farage "a great deal" and that the Brexit result is "magnificent" are true, they no longer share the same beliefs.
He said: "Yes that's probably right - I always forget about that, it's stuff I hear second hand and I don't believe everything I read but if that is the case that he's pro-Farage, there would be a slight drawback in that, as anyone would imagine."
On Brexit, the guitarist said he has been in the minority for most of his life and he is happy to be there again on the issue at the top of the political agenda.

And Johnny Marr replied to an account named kill_morrissey. Boy was Morrissey right in his Open Letter to Johnny Marr. It becomes clearer by the day that Marr was about 10% of the Smiths along with Rourke and Joyce. Without Morrissey the Smiths would have been a tight band of instrumental elevator music. If you call Electronic a good New Order record made nearly 40 years ago the best thing he has done since leaving the Smiths, then Marr is borderline talentless.

She also posted this and lots of other positive Morrissey/Smiths stuff.

What Johnny isn't clever enough to work out is that Morrissey's political views over the years have been largely based around working class beliefs, not the stereotypical left vs right. On likely just this one particular point, Farage appeals to Morrissey and a swath of working class people due to him opposing mass immigration. That's really it and Johnny is smuggly playing this pseudo "Morrissey is a racist" card for all it's worth.

Johnny has an unpleasent side to him that's revealed itself from time to time over the years and his obnoxious son, see mentions of his bad behaviour from a Newcastle based recording studio, belies this fact to an extent. Not settling with Joe Moss for the cost of a PA until the Smiths had ended, giving Andy a solitary afternoon in his studio after settling his royalties claim, resulting in Andy saying at the time that Morrissey had done more for him. Most of all for me, it's the snideness over the years towards Morrissey who has stayed relatively silent aside from the open letter.

Also...............he actually has a personality.............he laughs constantly. He's not a depressing twat.

But Morrissey is the one who said that Farage would make a good prime minister. It was right there on his site in that garish font. Maybe he should have posted Anne Marie Waters, but less people know who she is so it's not as funny.

Do you think he could do a worse job than anyone else? Seriously?

Right, you see what you want to see. It's right there in hideous font for all to see. Johnny just posted a picture that's all - he probably liked Farage's nice smile.
Do you think maybe you are only seeing what YOU want to see? He literally says that he does NOT support Ukip and Farage. Are you daft? Overly hysterical and emotional?

I can say that Trump is fantastic at public speaking and knows what to say to bring people together and is funny sometimes. That does not mean I support him or would vote for him or that I’m on his “side”.

There’s more life to being “cool” online. You’re allowed to think outside the box sometimes - you scream of someone who is all about likes and doing what is cool and socially acceptable with your peers. Put the quote in context to how he was being asked the questions and try to have some independent thought. One is allowed to compliment someone’s strengths without them being far-right.

I love them both, but, truth be told: for all his well-documented faults, Morrissey surprisingly almost always refrained from bad-mouthing Johnny during his years as a solo artist. Johnny, on the other hand, have been playing passive-aggressive mind games on a regular basis since 1987.

Sure, they could get a new bassist, but the point of the post you replied to (I'm pretty sure) is that without Andy it wouldn't be The Smiths. Andy's bass melodies were ingeniously interwoven with Marr's guitar melodies to the extent that I'd argue he deserved a co-writing credit. His role in The Smiths was hugely under-rated by both Marr and Morrissey. And yes, they talked about replacing him at one point, but that reminds me of Lennon talking about "getting Clapton in" when Harrison temporarily quite The Beatles.

It's not to say Morrissey and Marr couldn't do anything worthwhile together now, but it wouldn't be The Smiths. Although, with the passage of nearly 40 years, it arguably wouldn't have been The Smiths anyway, even if Andy had survived and all four had got together again. Another time, another place.
They didn't just "talk" about replacing Andy during his heroin days, Morrissey fired him by leaving a note on his windshield saying "Andy, you have left The Smiths" or something to that effect.

Why wouldn't you support him when the choice is a black/Indian robot?

I'm no Oasis fan, but they've just announced a reunion tour that will sell out in minutes. Their legacy is pretty f***in huge, Gordon.
thats not their legacy thats their popularity, your legacy is your output and influence from when you start out.
