There's Morrissey waging proxy peace again i.e. the genocide of Native Americans standing in for the West's many genocides and war crimes far and wide. I'm sure he's woken to the depravities Israel is showing itself capable of.

What I meant was: although Gaza is the obvious current parallel to Wounded Knee, I don't think that's what Morrissey intended. If he wanted to comment on Gaza, I think he would've done so in the last nine months. He is not, by any reasonable standard, commenting on Gaza by posting a Redbone video the day after Donald Trump was wounded.

Great new world is a sham. Too bad the Indigenous peoples didn't win that fight. We all might be in a different situation if they had
I would imagine that indigenous peoples had good and bad, just as we do. Indigenous peoples in the Americas had slavery and human sacrifice, for example.
Human beings are just apes that learned to make tools. We have mostly made those tools to kill and to maim. And those with deadlier and more advanced technology, tend to wipe out those with less deadly and less advanced technology. It was true in the prehistoric plains, it was true in 1492, and it's just as true now. Will we ever evolve into something better? Maybe one day.

Hopefully one day, with the current state of things, I really don't have much faith. I will say this, the land was far better off in the indigenous people's hands. The real savages were the Europeans whom invaded, brought disease, overtook, and destroyed.

He won't comment on Gaza except in this roundabout way. No matter what he said, imagine the furore that would follow. For what? It's not about him. The new UK Labour Govt. has sent Foreign Secretary David Lammy over pleading for a ceasefire, despite pledging vocal support for Israel during the election campaign. That's an interesting development, isn't it? Let's hope there are more like it. :tiphat:

Andrew Tate has expressed this very well I think. First, they try to discredit you and call you words ending in -ist. Then they try to put you in jail. Then they try to kill you. They have tried all 3 with Trump.
So far they have just tried the first one with Morrissey. It has been fairly damaging for him though. Maybe they don't need to try 2 and 3 in Moz's case?

Yes, it doesn’t suprise me that you think “Andrew Tate has expressed this very well”.

Just like Andrew Tate do you abuse women as well? Rape them, beat them, trade them?

Andrew Tate is vile filthy scum. And so are you.

But that’s just my opinion.

What makes you think he would suffer a serious backlash if he published two paragraphs on Morrissey Central condemning the carnage in Gaza and disowning some of the lines in Israel? Apart from maybe Tel Aviv revoking his keys to the city, or him receiving insults from some Murray-acolyte Zionists here on Morrissey-solo, I don't think he would cause much of a fuss. Unless you suppose all his Israeli friends are Noa Tishby types, then yes, that would be a problem for him.

Good.

You don't classify Trump as an outsider? He's as outsider as you get. Who gives a shit whether he's rich or not? Trump has more in common with Morrissey than he care's to realise. Targeted law fare, persecution, lies and now attempted assassination and it won't end there.
Coo coo.

If you had any reading skills beyond the mere rudimentary, you would know that I too am against the shooting. “Our democracy is wounded”, I said.
You guys see the movie Valkyrie? Tom Cruise movie. How can I put this...I'll just say, a bunch of people here, if they watched that movie would not be cheering for Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise's character-- for the non history buffs).

It's good to see people getting their history from Tom Cruise movies.

I get why Morrissey hasn't come out in support of Israel. It's probably a mixture of cowardice and being careful. Would I like to hear a statement in support of Israel? Yes. But if the man who wrote the song Bonfire of Teenagers comes out in support of the Palestinians and essentially Islam while condemning the only western style democracy that is Israel, he can go and f*** off to the ends of the earth.

I think it's that we all know where he stands on Israel and where he stands on Islam. I don't think there's anything to worry about in that regard. I don't think it's cowardice...his opinion hasn't been directly solicited (i.e. in an interview, etc) nor has he been up on stage and had a platform to randomly speak on it. I think that if/when either of those scenarios change, he'd speak his mind and it wouldn't contradict any previous statements or sentiments expressed in song. But in the meantime, yeah, why rock the boat.

He's been on stage here in Australia since October 7th but I definitely didn't want an announcement at those shows. I've lost faith in many people I used to look to for rationality and for want of a better word "balls" so Morrissey is the last one so far so good. If he disappoints me then so be it. If he does the opposite then great. I get the not rocking the boat thing.

I find it interesting that Pat and Lolly Vasquez-Vegas started out as a Mexican-American duo, mostly associated with being long-term performers at Gazzarri's on Sunset Boulevard, where they one time supported a young Lenny Bruce. Then came the hippie late sixties and seventies and the city boys are transformed into native American Indians with long hair, beads and colourful clothes. I'm not really sure how much of their heritage this style really represents. I do know that there were native tribal language speakers at the time of the brother's birth because they were used in World War 2 for sending messages at the battle front when there wasn't time to encrypt them - the Germans couldn't understand a word! It doesn't seem that the Vegas brothers were of this type of native.

Looking into the tribes mentioned in the brothers' Wikipedia pages, for example the Yaqui people, I see that they were attacked by the Spanish colonists and then by the Mexicans before the Wounded Knee Massacre - there is mention of one in 1868 in which the Mexican army burned 150 Yaqui to death inside a church. I suppose this doesn't fit the modern-day narrative of the US being the brutal oppressor of minorities or people of mixed race. And if the Europeans hadn't come. would there even be the shining resort of Las Vegas for Morrissey to perform in?
