Purpose? Showing that he can enjoy quiet English back roads. So that he doesn't look like a shallow, materialistic, money-grabbing consumerist who spends his time living the high life? Not that I am saying he is as I have never met him, but most of the out and about photos we see of him do suggest rich and famous. Boring photos of someone reading the paper at home, making toast, watering the plants, ironing etc aren't usually made public!

And I suspect the reason for Central showing it now is that he has left the UK. Just my logic.

Maybe I'm overthinking and it is a photo of a moment he was enjoying.

I'd definitely pay good money for photos of Morrissey ironing. From listening to his interviews, I always had a suspicion that he enjoyed extreme ironing.

Alas, photos of him 'in competition' are not available. Not even for ready money.

I'm convinced that's what the line from I'm Not Sorry was all about. 'On competing.....'

Another great song. As mentioned somewhere on another thread, interesting that The Libertines appear to have incorporated similar lyrics and sounds into one of their new songs.
