He’s edged closer to that particular branch of right-wing politics these past years. Waters, Farage, Le Pen, Robinson. Not to mention him sharing YouTube videos by alt-right people.
All people on the outside, kicking against those in power or animal welfare activists.
That's what he shares with them, although he never endorsed them directly.

And I don't think he 'shares any YouTube videos', except those you see before he's on stage.

We both know that’s not the whole truth. You’re politically sound, unlike many others here, so I know you know what I mean.

Sure he has. He’s shared videos on Central by Styxhexenhammer and PJW.

Waters isn’t associated with ‘right-wing’ politics. What new insanity is this?

Hmm, I think it is has been determined that Sam is in charge of Central, so I've always taken it as him posting those. Or the endless cover or Smiler vids, not Morrissey.

But anyway, if I would think Morrissey would or could now support or praise conservative politicians like Thatcher or Trump I would definitely be very confused.

I think Moz approved. He wouldn’t have his name attached to stuff he doesn’t stand by.

We agree on this: Morrissey either posts, or approves of, the stuff that's on Morrissey Central. But I think he's just completely idiosyncratic (and often naive) when it comes to politics. He seems to approach English politics very differently than he does American politics.

Trump is anti-immigration just like Waters and Murray are. But I have to believe that Morrissey imagines the migrants coming to the U.S. from Central America as beautiful, bejeweled, Rosary-wearing Latinos with San Morrissey icon tattoos, so he is pro-immigration for the U.S. And because he sees the Muslim migrants to the U.K. as bearded, patriarchal caliphs-to-be who will lay down shariah law and burn Bowie records, throw David Hoyle off a rooftop, sacrifice goats on Eid, and force his friends Linder Sterling and Chrissie Hynde to wear burqas, he's anti-immigration for England. He's all intuition. Many people are like this.

I also think he must hate Trump for Trump Steaks and his loathsome macho trophy-hunting safari sons. But politically Morrissey is all over the map. The man who wrote This Is Not Your Country and made comments sympathetic to the IRA also wrote Israel and won't say a peep about Palestine. This isn't consistency, and I've given up expecting it from him. The militant animal rightsist with Paul Joseph Watson videos on his official website is inscrutable.

Most sane people are 'all over the map', as you put it. Left wing on some issues, right wing on some issues, and no wing on some issues. It's insisting on taking a left wing stance on everything, or taking a right wing stance on everything, that's weird.

Agreed, just about every tour in the UK from 2004 t0 2018 was arena sized venues I remember the 2011 tour was smaller venues in off the beaten track towns like Inverness and Dunoon but there was no new material to promote but you knew when a new LP would appear it would be back to large venue`s.
Now I can`t see him being able to get back to the arena tour`s because the new material is very poor and of his backing of odious far right figures.
2004 quarry tour was theatre sized venues . (think there was some arena dates and indeed a massive outdoor show .. move festival ) 2006 ringleader was the same mainly, in fact Whitehaven was in a small town hall , about 800 at a guess . the arena tours were more like the mid to late 2010s and were nowhere near as good as an intimate gig . as he has got older and not as capable of doing multiple dates the arena became a decent commercial compromise. but know that his audience has declined he has had to return to smaller venues and all the better for it in my opinion.... doncaster , stockton in 2022 (?) were brilliant !

I don't know. I think a lot of people are blindly partisan, and don't put much thought into things. "They vote the way they vote because their parents did the same" probably has some truth to it, as well things like "voting with your wallet."

Morrissey is often uninformed, but he at least has more passion than the average voter. One thing I like is his tendency to associate whole families with their political sins, especially when it comes to animals. He's always criticizing the royals for their hunting and horse-riding, and he holds "Odious Ferry" in as much as contempt as his veal-loving father. That's why I don't think he'll change his mind on Trump. Trump unapologetically loves his McDonald's cheeseburgers, his sons are dilettante safari hunters, and Trump doesn't even have the benefit of having been in Roxy Music (which wasn't enough to spare Bryan Ferry).

wow - that is such an ageist comment if I have ever read one.

Morrissey and Marr's dress style have always been very different to each other's from what I have observed, so why should it be any different now?

"It really does take guts to be gentle and kind"
I don't know you, I never saw any posts of yours here and you don't know me, I'm a big fan of Morrissey and I really love him, I'm just saying that the photos don't flatter him. And that he needs to modernize, he dressed much better, I like the look of these recitals but not his shoes, I have seen for a long time that he wears ugly shoes. And I don't discriminate against anyone because of age, sex, etc., I just discriminate against people because of their quality of person, saying that Moz needs to tone his hair, put on better shoes and improve a little is nothing wrong with it. I always compliment him sometimes too much, but if I have to make an observation, I do it. J Marr is a little younger than him but he takes better care of himself and is more modern, I don't pretend that Moz looks like Johnny but Moz can improve a lot, he was always a very attractive man more than Johnny in my opinion. It should improve and it can do so. I love Moz and those who know me here in him only know it... So don't talk

Your comments did come across as ageist and overly critical even if you did not intend for them to read that way, and you are still saying "he can improve" even in this post, right down to his shoes......................you are doubling down on the same comment.

Opening with Fatty… A love letter to Americans.

The UK has changed since Morrissey's youth, and in many places a great deal has changed. There's an argument about whether that change has been mostly positive or negative, and I think Morrissey would say the latter because the identity of the UK has changed. He has talked about other countries in Europe still maintaining their identity whilst having a noticeable immigrant population. I think it would be fair to say the US is still very much distinctively American no matter where you go.

It's very easy to say that as an outsider, of course, as someone who hasn't grown up in the US. Regarding your point about Morrissey's view on immigration in the UK vs USA; I think it is very much that; that UK society and communities have had to adapt, whereas immigrants are more willing to adapt when living in the US.

I'm sure there's a good explanation for this; one being that Americans have bigger personalities whereas British people are more private and reserved.
