On November 22nd 1997, I, along with other fans in attendance at Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA had our otherwise excellent show ruined by denying us a great encore. At this time in his career Morrissey was not performing songs from the Smiths catalogue in his concerts. So when he came on for the encore to the thundering opening notes of "Shoplifters..." the crowd went bonkers. Alas some went too bonkers. Perhaps 30 seconds into the song some complete and totally worthless a-hole choose to invade the stage and violently full body tackle Morrissey to the ground. Music stopped, Morrissey whisked off stage. I've never been so angry at a show. Some friends and I, along with a few others waited outside the front of the venue to give our own "full body tackle" to the aforementioned a-hole but he must have left before us. I'm sure he has died by some auto-erotic misadventure by now. It was selfishly inane behavior in 1997 and it is even more so in 2024.
I was at that show. Loved the Maladjusted tour.

If you pause it at exactly 45 seconds, you will see that it actually looks like the long haired guy is trying to hit Morrissey (I don't think he was merely trying to get security off him, as it looks like security actually had to prevent the blow)

Well never know, but with that force, let's just say it would have been more than a hug.

Morrissey actually flinches, as most normal people would. It makes me wonder of that's exactly what that guy was trying to do. Capitalising on the developing chaos and the security being stretched.

Who knows.

It looks to me like he's trying to stop his sportscoat from being removed by the security guy tugging on it or showing Morrissey his t-shirt underneath. I don't pick up a violent sense from his body language.

This was an amazing show, it was a wonderful spooky/ 4 day getaway. With both falling on a Halloween themed day, 1st Houston on Halloween with almost every one was in costume, you seen the videos by now on the show, then a day of rest and some good Dallas cuisine before we had to celebrate Day of the Dead , Nov 2nd, which was perfect for the ending that looked pretty fitting , sorry someone got hurt but people are still passionate about the Man....no doubt,

Both shows having one off venue only shirts . Although Houston We have a problem shirt, more has been printed for Mporium. Hopefully we see more themed shirts as we creep to east coast....

Everyone there in lines, seats, are some really kind individual . Did see 3 young men interesting in line that they all had historical past morrissey tour shirts( authentic bootleg Maladjusted, live in Dallas cover shirt, didnt see the 3rd they new each other and one was taking professional photos with equipment .
Could it be? No....yes.....no Ryan , Sam, Davidt.....idk
