First time caller, long time lurker on this forum. I was in the balcony, and I thought I must’ve been crazy for thinking we would be trying to act as if we were at a concert? Of a performer we enjoy? I stood from the moment he came out, and after two songs was told to sit down and “no one could see” (for reference: I’m a 32 year old woman who is 5 foot 7 inches and the balconies were tiered). I said “we’re at a concert” and the man replied: “we’re at a *theatre* concert.” (huh?)

No one around me knew the songs, no one was singing, and from what I could tell the energy was just a bummer all over the theatre. This comment felt validating.

I’ve seen Morrissey only two other times — in NYC and then in London while I lived overseas, very high energy, fun, etc etc. Was curious if maybe that much had changed from 10 years ago. Maybe it still has and I actually am crazy 🤷🏼‍♀️ If the latter, I guess that’s okay too.

Anyways, great show. I thought the merch table was underwhelming. Been a fan for around 17 years, not that it’s a competition. I’m not on social media so I come here for my Morrissey news, and the discussion/banter surrounding Moz. Like a creeper from afar.
Everyone was standing for the whole show on the main floor, and moving to the music where I was -- lots of energy!

ash i think we live in a time where people just want to say to other people that they have seen an artist, some have probably never been a fan but go along to see what all the fuss is about.
who cares what people think as you are never going to see these people again for the rest of your life.
You're right! Fugg'em! I'm there to see Moz and enjoy some of his beautiful live music! 😁

i was saying to ash in an earlier post that people will go to concerts and events just to say they have been.
today 135,000 people bought tickets for glastonbury next year, tickets for the weekend are £373.50,the reason i bring this up is that the headline acts havent even been confirmed yet, people these days will go to the opening of an envelope if promoters can make it sound exciting.

Hey! Do people get up from their seats to get closer to the stage or does security not let you leave your seat? I’m going to Indianapolis but I’m coming from another country and I’m not sure how concerts like this are in America. Thanks

Morrissey once claimed that before every show he has to go over repeatedly in his mind the lyrics to remember them. I think you can imagine how stressful that is or would be to do every night simply to please those on the internet.

I think at this point in time he’s trying to look out for his health, less stress, and make these shows happen for the people that are going.

I wish he'd forget the lyrics to some of the new songs ;)

Off Places

It was better than House of Blues in Vegas.
House of blues show#1 was so awesome, small HOB venue, Las Vegas, 1st show of 2024, release party for reissue of Beethoven. And the beginning of new curtains, they looked superp at HOB,looked velvet and sometimes almost like waterfalls depending on light color, green hitting them ,very nice touch to go beside backdrops and they kept it for this Leg that we are almost done with. Great show is what I know

It seems to vary quite a bit from venue to venue. Morrissey's nephew Sam Esty Rayner is often seen in the stage vicinity documenting shows and interacting a little, but not so much on this tour, it seems. It's a busy enough schedule: into the final stretch now.
Saw this show and was very impressed. Last time I was able to see Morrissey was the Kill Uncle tour, so that's a long, long interim.
I was of two minds about the setlist: I really enjoyed the deep cuts and the newer songs and was impressed that it wasn't just a greatest hits package, and at the same time would have loved more greatest hits and fewer new songs. I respect that Morrissey is a living artist still writing new material, and I get that he could absolutely cash in by doing something like a tour where he sings The Queen Is Dead in its entirety, with a few other Smiths songs and his biggest solo tracks. This show felt like a band and artist who still very much see themselves as creating new songs worth hearing.
I don't really get the whining about "oh no, is he just playing the same songs every night." I guess, why would I care? I only get to see one show. How does it hurt my experience that he played the same songs in Nashville a few weeks ago? The idea that tours have setlists and that bands tend to stick to them is hardly odd. He's not Jerry Garcia fronting the Grateful Dead, ffs.
Morrissey's charisma is still intact, that's for sure. And I honestly don't think his voice has ever sounded better. He sounded great.
I told my wife before the show started that the one thing the Morrissey bands (going back to the Smiths, of course) have always had is an absolutely great drummer. That's certainly still true. I think when people characterize his music, one thing they often leave out is that he's always had just a monstrously-talented band who can just tear the place up. Those moments when Morrissey isn't singing and it's just the band, you realize it's simply an amazing rock and roll band in its own right. That said, the guitars were not as strong as everyone else on stage. Brilliant woman on keyboards, though. Brilliant bass.
What else to add... Was it worth the money and the two-hour drive? Absolutely. After the first three songs, I thought, "welp, you sure as hell got your money worth." I quite liked the venue. The acoustics were great, and the sound was really clear. It was a little staid, but the crowd was also mostly middle-aged, so it is what it is. (I said to my wife, 30 years ago a lot of these guys at a Morrissey show would have had pompadours, but they don't have the hair for that anymore. Same with Morrissey himself, of course.) Listened to Your Arsenal on the drive in, and loved YTOFMF as the opener. It's funny to think I heard "The Loop" 33 years ago on the Kill Uncle tour and again last night. The only other duplicate was "Everyday Is Like Sunday."
So a great night with an artist I consider the best music act of the last 40 years.
You say pompadour, I say quiff! Nice report :guitar:

On your compliments to the band, Jesse as lead guitarist and musical director is behind that overall sublime sound, for which he gets far too little kudos. So hats off to Jesse :tiphat:

I really appreciate that alot of people are describing the shows, the pictures, merchandise, videos. Pictures tell a thousand words. This years tour has already been successful,4 shows still left , what will he say in Canada. Fan well recorded and I feel Morrissey camp recorded we will see in far off places if released later.
The playlist is set with a few different songs floating here and there, merchandise hasn't changed .

yip, well done jesse for always being there,he could have bailed years ago like everybody else and yet he is still here.

Good of Mozza to turn up and play, as it looks like he was in his pyjamas and ready to retire for the evening.

Yes it looks like Ryan got the photographer job on this tour, we have all seen his great pics via Central and I saw him at Dallas show taking photos of fans with pins and merchandise in line waiting to get in.. No Sam

We definitely had a chance to really overwhelm security but the crowd is older now and just doesn't have it in them to do more than the guards can handle.

:tearsofjoy:

There are so many reasons why a Morrissey gig aged 65 should never be about overwhelming security.

You really think a taskforce should be put together beforehand, to be approaching barriers like
