I'm not fan of Morrissey's politics but this just depresses me. You could say it's his own fault, but that's all Moz and his career have been reduced to now in the minds of most people and I obviously don't like that, or I wouldn't be here.

Johnny has revealed a nasty and arrogant side to his character here. By lumping Morrissey in with someone that the left have labelled 'far right', even though he clearly isn't, he is smearing Morrissey. And at a time when Morrissey is trying to get an album released - an album called Bonfire of Teenagers that has a song about the Manchester Arena bombing. These are sensitive times, and Johnny is pouring oil on a smoldering fire. To do that to an old friend and bandmate is unpleasant - and says much more about Johnny than it does about Morrissey.

Absolutely. Not to mention that the tag for the account he was replying to was @kill_morrissey, is he f***ing blind? Have things fallen that far? Christ.
Is a bit knee-jerk which made me wonder if it wasn't really him. Or he was getting annoyed at everyone pestering him about reforming now the GBs are back together.

Johnny's post was childish, cheap and disappointing. Morrissey's recent comments on the Smiths never dying was an olive branch if ever there was one...
I wish they could just be civil enough to do a proper old fashioned news conference together to put the idea to bed. Just imagine the lead up to the date of "an announcement" from Moz and Johnny. Even if it was just to say nothing's going to happen.

This.
I have made this point boringly before, but ANY party passed by the Electoral Commission in the UK is not deemed 'extremist' (left or right) and would have the ability to vote for them in elections removed immediately should they venture in to that territory.
Regards,
FWD.

Just like the war with Blur, and the war with Robbie Williams, the war with the brothers is a manufactured piece of spin designed to hype the hell out of this band. I honestly cannot believe that people are taken in by it.

Last time they played Heaton Park, one night the touts were giving tickets away at two for a tenner, and another night they ended up having to give everyone (who claimed it) their money back. People have very selective memories.

Hype. Hype. Hype.

Here the problem with Johnny. He is not man enough to put the political views aside. There is no reason he has to agree with Morrissey on all issues to play guitar with him on stage or in the studio. I work with tons of people everyday that I don't agree with politically. were friends even though we have completely different political views. That is what grown men do. Johnny, not so much.

Agree.

Mentally, Johnny seems to be still in his early twenties, when he broke The Smiths up.

And he keeps "breaking them up" everytime he has a dig at Morrissey. Because we all know The Smiths would never ever even exist without Morrissey.

Therefore, supposing that Johnny Marr believes that this behaviour is protecting The Smiths' legacy, then I have to agree with @Thewlis: he is kind of thick.

There's more than meets the eye with these two.

They act like those kids we've all seen at school who constantly fight and pick on each other, but underneath it all... there is really just love... and attraction.

Behind the hatred, there lies....
A murderous desire....

Behind the hatred there lies....
A plundering desire....

That kind of chemistry doesn't go away - it stays forever. But people try their best to bury it, deflect attention away from it, deny to themselves that it ever existed.

But the truth is, and shall ever be.....

Agree, very overrated and uncreative band...likely only the 2 dipshit brothers would be original members so is it really Oasis reunited or The Gallagher Brothers?

Bonehead, the original rhythm guitarist, is onboard. No word yet on bass and drums.

A highly immature and petulant post from Marr. They should all three of them - Marr, Morrissey & Joyce - sit down together over a few beers and have it out properly. Clear the air via a good slanging match. They are all to an extent at fault. Marr has sniped at Morrissey for 30 years, Morrissey holds grudges and won't move on and Joyce brought an ill-advised court case.

Craig Gannon was originally hired to replace Andy on bass before Andy was returned to the band and Craig switched to second guitar.

Sure, they could get a new bassist, but the point of the post you replied to (I'm pretty sure) is that without Andy it wouldn't be The Smiths. Andy's bass melodies were ingeniously interwoven with Marr's guitar melodies to the extent that I'd argue he deserved a co-writing credit. His role in The Smiths was hugely under-rated by both Marr and Morrissey. And yes, they talked about replacing him at one point, but that reminds me of Lennon talking about "getting Clapton in" when Harrison temporarily quite The Beatles.

It's not to say Morrissey and Marr couldn't do anything worthwhile together now, but it wouldn't be The Smiths. Although, with the passage of nearly 40 years, it arguably wouldn't have been The Smiths anyway, even if Andy had survived and all four had got together again. Another time, another place.

How is Johnny being 'nasty' when he is simply posting (without comment) a photograph of someone Morrissey has publicly stated he admires on more than one occasion, and who shares his anti-immigrant stance?

Why do you think Morrissey would be upset by the association with Farage, someone he said he liked a great deal, called a liberal educator, and would make a good Prime Minister?

Were all these quotes made up? Was Morrissey lying when he said these things? If not - then why on Earth should he be angry at this association?

Why are people in this thread getting their panties in a twist, when Johnny is simply 'truth-telling', something Morrissey has always been an advocate of?
