In June 2024 AEG Entertainment Group made a lucrative offer to both Morrissey and Marr to tour worldwide as 'The Smiths' throughout 2025.
Morrissey said Yes to the offer; Marr ignored the offer.

Morrissey undertakes a largely sold out tour of the USA in November.
Marr continues to tour as a special guest to New Order.

I love The Smiths, my favoutive ever band, I never saw them live.

I’d give one of my kidneys to see them perform, if only once. Johnny, please make it happen!
We’ve waited long enough.
Exactly so.
Look, I think Marr to be a great guitarist. For me, the holy triad of the 80s was Peter Buck, Marr and Billy Duffy. Just my opinion.
What is NOT my opinion is that if the statement on MC is so, and I have no reason to believe it isn't, then it's an incredibly selfish move.
There are generations, plural, of fans who haven't seen The Smiths because they were either too young or too poor to get to see them in their early go-rounds.

This post makes me incredibly sad. Not one to say "stay together for the sake of the children" but if these two could please work it out, even just once, for all of us whose lives were saved by their music---how grand would it be?

Agree 100 percent. Although for me it is Johnny Marr, Peter Buck and Will Sergeant.

I hope they don’t do a tour

Don’t get me wrong , I will be there to see it (misssed then first time around) but like The Jam, preserving the legacy is much more worthy at this point

They should at least turn up for rock n roll hall induction though

What are your views on him saying yes to the lucrative tour offer seeing you have been quite vocal about Noel only doing the Oasis gigs for money.
we all know why noels doing it,guy can hardly afford a loaf these days,M isnt going through a divorce, maybe M needs the money, nothing to do with anyone on here.
as for me would i attend a smiths reunion,no because i dont see the point in trying to relive a moment from the past.
nice try by the way.

That is a burn of a post back to Johnny.

In a way though, I'm pleased that they won't be touring as The Smiths - I don't think it would be right with just the two of them.

I'm surprised Morrissey said yes, because from the evidence we have here, it seems like it wouldn't take much to derail their relationship 'on tour'.

Ok probably not the best move to slag off the guy who ignored the offer, no wonder he doesn't want to tour with you Moz. Morrissey has said no to this question hundreds of times, he's really going to put this statement out when Marr does?

When Robert Plant and Jimmy Page toured in the late 90's, was it as Plant and Page, yeah? Morrissey and Marr might do quite nicely as a tour moniker. Would be lovely to see Morrissey with a proper band behind him, and Johnny with a singer who can actually sing.

Well, Craig Gannon and Mike Joyce are still available, too. It could easily be The Smiths.

maybe M knew their would be not a hope in hells chance of marr saying yes, this way he takes the higher ground.

everybody brace for impact skinnys showed up with his usual dung.
Good to see Johnny's got principles, and he's sticking to them.
