I recently witnessed Modern English play I Melt With You for five shows when we were touring with them and they obviously are more than aware that that is THE song most everyone knows by them and while one may think they’d be bored to tears playing it at EVERY show, they in fact embrace it and put in 10x the effort. It’s a great tune that they know both casual and hard core fans enjoy in part because they don’t half-ass it and go through the motions. They take care to get it right and make sure the energy is always there and I respect them even more for this.

This is like when Johnny plays How Soon Is Now or There Is a Light - he plays them with joy and enthusiasm, like he wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world.

Another way he could have handled it is to respect the fact that for most average people going to shows has become really expensive. Some people need to pay for babysitters, and other expenses like expensive parking and everything else. How about collecting yourself backstage for 5 minutes and coming back out to finish the encore by saying something like,”please no more rushing the stage, a security team member was seriously hurt, if you want us to finish the show please no more rushing the stage”.
Either it was a planned event or he decided to go out like that and not let the situation go to waste as it can garner pr attention.

I don't have an issue if Morrissey leaves a show because he felt his safety was in danger. Blame the knuckleheads at the show. Your scenario while reasonable only happens if Morrissey wanted to go the extra distance for his audience. This is the same guy who canceled many shows with no explanation or apology.

What if the band just stopped playing and Morrissey stopped singing until the stage invaders were removed. I think the crowd would boo them instead of cheering them on and then being pissed that the show ended early.

It's not like Morrissey completely discourages this behavior, and I don't know that he can totally shut it down at this point, but the last two guys - the hat and frizzy blonde - they should probably not be allowed back in.
He's never discouraged it. He has official releases like Hulmerist and Live in Dallas where he shows footage of stage invasions. When asked about it in interviews he's said it's extremely moving that people want to get on stage to hug him.

I'm concerned about the Little Rock shows. The fact that they're hardly halfway sold out, and last nights events combined cannot be good. Hopefully he has it in him.

I’m sorry to hear about the stage invasion. I hope he’s up for the Little Rock show (and the Birmingham show as well).
I didn’t know there was a way to bring him gifts. How does one go about doing that? Is it a difficult process?

You're the one

Here's the charming official video for Fatty

True to You ( baby j version) - I believe it's far far better rendition than Houston
(Not Including that weird Moz's howl in the middle of the song )

That jacket is very very smart, and he kept it on last night, but instead is swinging a scarf, or a towel? Like Salomé, maybe (there played by Rita Hayworth)?

Super version of the song :thumb:

Morrissey And Wine also reported the stage invasion

Oh my gosh! What did they think this was Dallas '91?! part deux? It started out gentle the first 3 and OK but then got more aggressive, can see the one security guy hobbling off he must have got his foot hurt by the guy in the cap. Glad M is okay. It's a fine line.
Looks like that guy had a hitch in his giddy up.

Do we think the show tomorrow is going to be canceled because of the low sales and the stage invaders? I was thinking of driving the 6 hours to the show since there's so many affordable tickets, but I'm worried Moz may not want to go ahead with it after everything that happened
My hunch is they'll do what they did on the last UK tour after thing got too rowdy in Portsmouth - increase the gap between the barrier and the stage so there's a huge moat for any would-be stage invaders to cross.

You're quite the poet, aren't you?

He must be. Don’t forget, Johnnie’s the one that claimed a few times that he could write better lyrics than Morrissey presently does. I think it’s no surprise to anyone that he’s yet to produce any examples to back his claims.
