Oasis reunion + Morrissey

The only reason Morrissey stopped playing big venues in the UK was that he could no longer sell enough tickets to fill them, hence the Castlefield Bowl cancellations, or the half-empty Leeds Arena in 2020, leading to a major rethink of smaller UK tour venues. I'm sure if he had his way, he'd be playing venues like Manchester Arena to this day.

As much as I like Oasis, I find this reunion very tacky, Noel is doing it to pay off his ex, more than the experience of a reunion. Liam seems up for it, but it's all too clichéd. Like most other reunions, they hate each other, it's all for the money, in a huge stadium selling overpriced crap.
There's no Soul.
I wouldn't want to see Morrissey supporting that.

Rumours are that it's 2 nights Cardiff, 4 nights Heaton Park Manchester, 5 nights Wembley Stadium, 2 nights Edinburgh, 2 nights Dublin, then 1 night in each of the following, Toronto, Chicago, New Jersey, Boston, Los Angeles and Mexico City. Starts 4th July and ends September 11th. Probably wrong but its from the same person who mentioned there were reforming at New Orders gig on Saturday night.

And possibly Glastonbury I heard

That’s a whole lot of assumptions and pulling stuff out of your ass, seeing as there has been no word whatsoever from either Liam nor Noel. We have no idea what either of them think or feel or how a supposed reunion tour would play out. What I do know is that Noel has never spoken as warmly about his brother as he did in his last interview with John Robb (published last week on YouTube). I watched it on Friday and it made me raise an eyebrow.

I don't like Oasis and I never have. I don't like the sound of the voice, which is always a deal breaker for me. I'm glad Morrissey won't play with them, they're so different.

did he know the reunion was in the offing so he was saying good things, they are a lot older now so its no surprise they will get on better.

When all’s said and done this was a fun topic for a thread but really the Oasis reunion and Morrissey have nothing to do with each other. Doubt if it crossed the mind of either party.

Hope that Morrissey can't stand Oasis's retto grandpa rock muzak. He would be a disgrace to appear on the same stage with them.

Straight macho shallow rock is an anomaly for each Smiths fan who likes beautiful and well arranged s ongs

Liam was begging for this to happen on any occasion given. Noel just didn't need it. He wrote the songs, that became hits. You can't help thinking, they're in it for the money now. Without Bonehead, Guigsy and Alan White, it wouldn't be the same.

I hope you’re joking. Look at the amount of records they sell, as a band and as solo artists (Liam especially). Look at the sizes of the crowds at Liam’s concerts. Look at the hullabaloo surrounding this reunion. Look at where their classic albums and songs end up on lists. The Oasis legacy is thriving. Oasis as a band, and their individual members, are fantastically relevant to the people of 2024.

Admitting that other bands of kind of the same generation/age group are more successful and relevant to people in general than Moz doesn’t make you any less of a Moz fan.
Spare us this. Oasis's legacy doesn't exist. There isn't one. No valuable later band has been influenced by them.

None of what I said was false. What you wrote was based on your own opinion.

They definitely are a popular band, and I quite like their 1994 and 1995 albums, but The Smiths are in another league from a musical or lyrical point of view.

I don’t think anyone in this thread is debating that.

Bonehead plays live with Liam so I’d expect him to be part of it.
