We’re all bands I enjoyed well before The Smiths..
So I never thought you could or even should only be able to be into one type of music....

Remember the 80s had so much to offer for a young lad...

You reminded me when you said Coventry: I recently bought the remastered 'Ghost Town' by The Specials. With the excellent 'Friday Night, Saturday Morning' and 'Why' b-sides. Then I remembered I have the original 7" but not thought of it in years. Fantastic music.

I go out on Friday night and I come home on Saturday morning
But two o'clock has come again
It's time to leave this paradise
Hope the chip shop isn't closed
Cos' their pies are really nice
I'll eat in the taxi queue
Standing in someone else's spew
Wish I had lipstick on my shirt

As others have already mentioned, Morrissey has been an admirer of James Baldwin all his life. People calling him a racist, are probably not aware of that. Morrissey is definitely not woke, and probably not racist either. He may feel the pressure to show the world he's not racist, but then I would look to his recent collaboration with Thelma Houston (which I liked) or his upcoming work with AP&P Rocky (here I am really curious) for possible evidence, not his references to James Baldwin. Moreover, I don't think that those people who are convinced that Morrissey is a racist would even look at Morrissey Central for confirmation.

I was just asking the question because in the thread about Johnny Marr re-signing to BMG, I saw a poster claiming that Morrissey once said that Marr was 60 when he actually was 57, so I wondered whether there was a pattern here. If it is a joke, then I am afraid that I am not getting it (I admit to being a numerical person).

You've got this wrong. Stephen Hoffman is not lacking in knowledge, he is lacking in intellect. There's a key difference. Stephen Hoffman is not a stupid person, he just lacks the intellect required to see through right-wing bullshit and therefore believes the propaganda he reads.
