were planned for 2024 worldwide release by Warner Records along with a deluxe box release of The Smiths first album in order to commemorate its 40-year anniversary, and also a new 7-inch of This Charming Man. Warner approached Morrissey and Darren Evans to assemble artwork for all four releases, all of which were rejected and halted out of hand by J Marr.

What do you suppose is really going on with Morrissey? Why all of a sudden this high-profile finger pointing? My theory is he is having a financial crisis. Something is very wrong.
You only need look at Alain and Gustavo’s replacements to conclude your above theory.
Steven has placed his chips in all the wrong places on the music industry roulette table.
It’s absolutely hilarious now though seeing Steven coming down the ladder faster than Fred Dibnah falling off the highest mill chimney in Bolton.
Marr must be laughing himself to sleep every time his head hits the pillow at night.
Steven Patrick Morrissey is and always will be “Devious, Truculent and Unreliable”
Nothing but a CrankFraud from start to finish.
Off with his head !!!!!!!!

Benny 🇬🇧🔪

Whatever is happening between these two now is nothing new and don't be surprised if the shameless cash grab, whoops sorry, I meant 'reunion' actually does happen in some form or other. One thing you can be absolutely sure of is that both Morrissey AND Marr are money mad.

Yeah, that's my take. He's tanked his own career, and has no other way of getting any interest from major labels, so he's turned desperate enough to try and resurrect The Smiths.
He could resurrect it better by:

1) Self-releasing the new material.
2) Clarifying his past political statements and apologising for any distress caused.
3) Mixing up the setlists and putting on amazing shows. Deep cuts from his solo career, Smiths era songs previously unplayed as a solo artist, changing things up each gig such as a different encore each night, maybe even guest appearances from Boz and Alain.

Good question. Unsure about this answer, though.

Because can he really have a financial crisis . . . ?
I somehow doubt it.

I know he likes staying in fancy hotels, but even that shouldn't be draining his fortune that much.

Plus he continues to receive Smiths and solo royalties. And whenever he tours he makes cash from that.

Surely anyone can have a financial crisis? It's simply a question of getting yourself into debt and then being in a position where you are unable to meet the debt repayments.

‘Distress’ 🤡

For now maybe, give it time and the usual will occur.

Since M gave a recent interview, maybe the Guardian actually thinks it can woo him into doing one with them?! …. don’t do it Mozi! …

Its A Trap GIF

Johnny is havin' one of his "me-me"
moments and Moz is just showin'
folks what it's like to deal with.
Don't forget Moz went through this
when Johnny ran away from The Smiths.
Morrissey's whole life is a "me-me moment". Johnny was first to leave but there's been a long, long line after that. He's had, what, 15 record labels? And God knows how many managers, producers and members of the backing band?

He could easily self-release or release on a smaller label but he's burned so many bridges that the majors won't give him the time of day., and that's his own fault. Each time another deal or agreement implodes, he never learns, he just gets into the same situations over and over. Having a public tantrum because Johnny won't bark, roll and 'obey' like staff won't win him any friends and won't get him a deal.

I think it's as simple as it sounds. He wants a major label to release Bonfire and is frustrated that a deal isn't forthcoming, that's all it is. Pretty sure M has enough money that he never needs to work again - won't he and Johnny both have made a shedload from the Killer soundtrack last year?

Haha.
What makes ya think Wild T
would read ya long nonsense?

@Lujan369

Ok, no estaba seguro si te gustaron tanto como te gusta Felt.
They are different but I like Moz more than Lawrence, Lawrence doesn't sing so well but he has a style and he touches me a lot. And I like Maurice a little more than Johnny. But overall, I would say 9 Smiths, 8 Felt. Lawrence has a terrible history, but he wrote very good lyrics. Moz was psychologically stronger because he did not fall into addictions, this is very striking because Moz is or was depressed. Lawrence has the advantage of being more sociable and more liked, sweeter. and deep down weaker he has a history of sexual abuse, Young Moz was sweet, and he had a very present mother that helped him. Morrissey lost that sweetness when he got big., too bad. ... Lawrence was beautiful as a young man

Fair enough. I should have realised that I was trying to engage with a grown adult who is pretending to be a turkey, and maybe two paragraphs was overdoing it a bit. I don't know what I was thinking.

Mmm yes MOZ NO APRENDE...

Honestly, the cover is growing on me. The font has a certain Street Fighter charm in it (don't know why I thought of that, I've never even play the game) and while I thought that the title is a bit cringeworthy at first, I like the possible backstory someone on this thread told about it. I can see mozza watching this on TV when he was a kid and how that would appeal to his outsider mentality. The picture is nice but maybe another picture from the same session could be better ? Don't know. Mozza with glasses is too cute for me too care. Not liking the Hand in Glove one. The original is a hundred times better. Surely, a 'bloke's bum' is better than just a picture of Shirley Bassey!

Not that any of that matters though because living where I am makes it near impossible for me to buy these things! Why do I live in the arse of the world!?
