Morrissey Central "THE PLOT THICKENS" (September 15, 2024)

Trademark-Search.jpg

J Marr has successfully applied for 100% trademark rights / Intellectual Property ownership of The Smiths name. His application has been accepted on whatever oaths or proclamations he has put forward. This action was done without any consultation to Morrissey, and without allowing Morrissey the standard opportunity of 'objection'. Amongst many other things, this means that Marr can now tour as The Smiths using the vocalist of his choice, and it also prohibits Morrissey from using the name whilst also denying Morrissey considerable financial livelihood.

Morrissey alone created the musical unit name 'The Smiths' in May 1982.

1) I believe Johnny agreed to the royalty split, he did not "insist" on it - he thought as Moz did, that they weren't a band of equals.

2) The idea that he broke up The Smiths is debatable, at best. He took off, needed a break, never articulated a desire for a break up, and then read that comments by Moz et al that he left the band. .

Did Moz made such comments? The NME did print an article full of rumors, that unfortunately Marr believed was planted by Morrissey, and so the NME article did play a role in the split.

Morrissey is much more clear-sighted politically than Marr. But still, Marr is smarter socially, because he better fits the authorized opinions.
Britain is no longer British. Just another European country turning into a non White muslim shithole.

Farage is a right-wing politician who is hated by a large portion of the left-wing media in the UK, first and foremost The Guardian.

Johnny Marr posting the Farage-pic in response to the reunion rumours is him saying he couldn’t possibly work with Morrissey as they are too far apart, politically, as well as ridiculing Morrissey.
Wonder if Johnny Marr and family will live their old years in a replaced muz country like Britain.
Morrissey is so much more clear-sighted on this subject.
Farage is as far right as Marine Lepen is, that is very little, unfortunately.

Johnny will never tour as "The Smiths" with another singer. Nonsense.

I understand that he doesn't want a reunion with Morrissey, especially after Morrissey's right-wing populist outbursts. It's all over. It's a shame, but that's how it is.
His ’right-wing’ outbursts were really moderate.
Shame on Marr for being such a stupid leftist.
Extreme/ far right is just White people defending themselves from hostile invaders.

"Hostile invaders", they just seem to want to work and get on with life like everyone else.
Sadly some nutters make it through but we have plenty of hostile people already here and of the white variety as well.

Or do i have to carry the stink of Fred West, Harold Shipman, Jimmy Saville etc, etc etc, because of my skin colour.

You don’t want to see the crocodile in the middle of the room. Too bad.

Wasn’t the leak from someone close to Morrissey? That’s why the writer ran with it. It’s not inconceivable that Morrissey did “leak” that to have Marr come running back to him. Unfortunately it backfired in the worst way possible.

So who says that Marr’s management is actually telling the truth?

They will have the receipts. They hired a reputable trademark law firm. Unless you're the type that doesn't believe anything that fits your own narrative, this statement should suffice.

Source? That is not true. They made a joint decision very early on.
I understand Marr admitted same in his autobiography.

Thanks for sharing how you see it.

If I recall correctly, Joyce was in the process of applying for a mortgage shortly after the demise of the band and his accountant needed Joyce to provide proof of earnings. He claims he had always been under the impression he was getting 25%, but when he actually got confirmation (I'm assuming from Rough Trade) he learnt it was only 10%. And that started the ball rolling.
Thanks. I wondered what instigated it. Sometimes people can act on advice from others, who seem more authoritative or who have their own interests in the outcome. It seems quite a few mistaken impressions have lingered :squiffy:

She is the only person I know, who still maintains a genuine friendship with both of them at the same time and values them both equally. Of course, it's impossible to judge the extent of her influence from the outside. Didn't she even come to Morrissey's defence recently?
I think, if she were still with us, Kirsty MacColl could have helped both of em sort something, somehow. They both thought the world of her. Alas, it was never to be.
