but i also have critical thinking skills and made note that he wasn’t directly involved with the Marr stuff and it’s hearsay. whereas, he was in someway a part of the BOT lead up and that’s the information that is almost certainly true with I Ex-Love You being the only new addition on this tour.

Yeah, that’s very thin ‘proof’. It could just as well be a coincidence.

I do like the rumour, but as it is, it’s just a rumour and as others have said it is strange that the one posting the rumour was on this board since 1997 and never posted until now.

Maybe he was part of some team but then why would he be so unprofessional to leak info right after the deal broke down in September and then be here to daily talk about this supposed deal…

Seems very unlikely such a person would ever be let near any deal in the music business.

Being involved means hearing about more than just the record deal. The Johnny drama. The passport drama was wild too. That was f***ed up and personal and it’s horrible what happened to him there, and it was not an unforced error. The timing of that couldn’t have helped his mindset.

pretty sure his original post clearly states that the offer was immediately dismissed and not seriously considered, so maybe try reading what people actually write.

I think part of it is people putting importance on what he says - which often is half-truths and sometimes outright lies. Look at the narrative he created around BOT being "held hostage" by Capitol - trying to "silence" him and such. Some people believed it - see this petition ("Capitol Records Does not want this album released because they see Morrissey as a threat for being genuine." Yet Capitol signed him. ). Then emails are leaked telling a far different story, which BTW he never claimed were false. I think real fans should be upset by events like this and it erodes his credibility. But I guess you're only a real fan if you accept being lied to with a smile on your face.

I miss the old days of being a Morrissey fan when it involved reading funny and witty interviews and being inspired by new releases. I hope we can get back to that.

i remember posting on the initial passport thread when it hit. no question in my mind that whomever Moz paid to remove personal valuables from his mom’s estate before the sale did a shitty job.

I actually just quoted it a few posts back:

‘On the flip side, Marr's camp is extremely dodgy. Management reached out to a very well-known singer of a major band (you can guess who) to see if he'd tour as the lead singer of "The Smiths." Marr's management also floated the idea of Marr touring as the Smiths to UK promoters which was also rejected.‘

So Marrs management twice tried to get a tour going as The Smiths. If we believe this rumour.
