How strange, then, that none of these loose-lipped people could give him the real picture about the trademark situation before he started goading Johnny publicly and made a colossal tit of himself. Something he still hasn't acknowledged or apologised for.
Read Johnny's statement, which Morrissey never refuted. Morrissey did know before going public and was offered joint ownership of the trademark.

swerve lol? Gimme specific questions and not a gigantic block of text and I’m happy to answer them. I thought I did.
Here's a direct question. You said Morrissey makes it hard for Mike Joyce to get his share of the Smiths royalties. Andy wrote some songs with Morrissey after the Smiths that he mentioned in an interview he hadn't been paid for. Now I see this blind item revealed - Is this true?

Blind Items Revealed #2

The man is barely in his grave, and the lead singer of this band is already to pressure the family into taking pennies on the dollar for some royalties.

His career is one of the strangest cases of self-destruction you will ever see in pop rock history. His career imploded, not because of drugs or tragedy or anything else other than...laziness and stupidity? Talk about destroying an unbeatable legacy and going out with a whimper! Us original fans are not happy about it but we have the perspective and intelligence to tell it like it is and accept it.
As a fan from the very first day of The Smiths (before losing interest for a long while), I do get your perspective. My post wasn't related to whether Morrissey's career is a 'dumpster fire' or not. I just found it amusing that he condescendingly said he didn't post here previously because he didn't need to 'find community with strangers on the internet' but now he is engaging the same community of said strangers with his insider insights.

This is very interesting. I don’t know, but it makes sense. Coincidentally, I’ve been acquainted with Andy’s last manager for decades. I ran into her in July for the first time in 2 years at a show, and when I told her of my involvement, she warned me to be careful. “Asshole” is the word she used, I believe. We were interrupted and the conversation didn’t go back there, but I remember wondering why she should have reason to say that in 2024… aka what could her dealings with Camp Moz possibly have been. She only managed him for the past 10 years or so.

If I find anything out, I’ll post it here.

you make too many baseless assumptions about me for me to bother with this.

Thank you for your insight. It does make sense. This is why Andy and Mike never disparage Morrissey publicly - he controls the purse strings. When contrasted with the flowery eulogy Morrissey wrote for Andy, it makes me feel a bit sick and very sad that he would try to shortchange Andy's family.

From a music biz perspective, I fail to see how he would control purse strings. Lemme think out loud:

Smiths issues have been dealt with, and while he might have to be served in order to send the money (assuming since M and M signed the contracts, royalties still flow to them from the label and they must send the money onwards) there should be no issues there.

The songwriting involved with the early Moz songs he was on should be set in stone.

I wonder what the deal was with regards to Andy and Mike to perform on those early Morrissey recordings. Were they paid a flat fee, or were they given an interest in the master in exchange for performing. (Unlikely)

Which is to say, I wonder what M was, allegedly per the article you shared, was trying to renegotiate? I assume he offered a flat buyout for future Smiths royalties to his grieving wife?

Blind Items Revealed #9 - Reader Blind Item

January 29, 2020

The diehard and fanatical fans of this foreign born singer who is A/A+ in his native country and who has a new album coming out soon would be surprised to know certain aspects of his real life that are seemingly in contradiction to the public persona he has built up over the years in lyrics, in interviews, and even in his own autobiography.

For one, he has at least two illegitimate children, the result of encounters while on the road. One was conceived during his time in a now defunct band that is still popular today. He has always been coy about his sexuality, he is bisexual, but in fact, contrary to popular opinion, he has had more relationships with women than men.

Also not known is his violent temper. He headbutted a promoter in the early days breaking the man’s eye socket. He put a former bandmate in the hospital and has been known to get into fights in pubs. He is bigger and stronger in real life than he appears on TV and in videos.

He has always downplayed the fact he was a very good athlete as a teenager but, despite his statements mocking this, has always been into working out especially in his glory days several decades ago and travels with a personal trainer.

Those who have met him during unguarded moments have also commented on the fact that his natural speaking style is much coarser and working class than the affected voice he puts on in interviews. He grew up in a tough neighborhood and this reflects that.

The last couple years, this singer has been in trouble for comments he has made. Those comments are in fact closer to who he actually is and what he actually believes which reflect a certain type of character named after a hairstyle he sang about in some of his earlier songs.

Morrissey (The Smiths, Suedehead)

Blind Items Revealed #4 - Anniversary Month

October 27, 2014

This foreign born C list musician was at a party the other night and would not stop talking smack about this A list singer who the musician used to be in a band with. The musician says he has to work every day of the week to earn a living because the singer was greedy and didn't want to share the spoils from the band all teens like at some point even though the band split almost 30 years ago.

Of course half of this sounds exactly like him, and the other sounds just insane. Kids? Putting people in the hospital?

I missed this at the time apparently. Do people think it’s legit? Kids?!

Personal trainer tho? I don’t buy that. He doesn’t look like he’s seen a gym in ages. I’ve always thought it sad he equates vegetarianism with being healthy. As if all one need do to be healthy is avoid eating meat.

Also, the speaking style? Never heard that before.

It’s not surprising that the same people that are quick to criticize Morrissey, are the same ones that would believe anything a stranger posts on Central, and also get excited and believe what they read on some gossip blog.

I think the personal trainer must be from the late 1980s and 90s as he definitely did bulk up a bit then. I distinctly remember an article where the writer took a wrong turn in Morrissey’s house and encountered a roomful of exercise equipment. I wish he’d go back to that.

Makes sense. They might also be calling Damon a personal trainer :)

I always suspected that - yet see nothing wrong in it.

Well... there is at least one person who might be his kid, but there are a few contenders for their paternity. As far as I know, there was never a test done because the mom didn't want any man involved. I thought they looked so similar that it was surprising no one ever asked, though it's likely everyone knew more than me.

He also really does speak differently on stage. He... talks... so.... slow... on stage. He'll cuss about as much as you'd expect a working class man to, but Americans always think he's far more posh than he is.

The speaks-differently-in-private part makes sense and I’ve found is quite normal. I’ve spent my entire adult life working with bands and musicians and am quite aware of when the persona is turned on.

If he had a kid during the Smiths, they could be 40 by now. Wow. How/why do you know this, and can I get a hint on the kid lol?

The "2 children" thing is a misunderstanding based on legal papers from the 1996 court case which named two children as dependents/heirs/whatever. They are his two nephews.
