It's hard to tell over the internet.
If I'm shy or not has nothing to do with the fact that Morrissey doesn’t have a record deal.

I never posted much in the past because I never needed to find community by discussing how amazing it was to see Paris played for the 937th time with strangers on the internet. No disrespect to anyone here.

Why are you posting now though?

“I didn’t post about his career being a dumpster fire until recently because his career wasn’t a dumpster fire until recently.”
Oh okay , so you’re here to find community by discussing with strangers for the 937th time what a dumpster fire Morrissey’s career is is . No disrespect intended.

Next time, take a bit more time to come up with something more cleverer.

No deal. No hope of a deal. Ex band members touring without him. Awful treatment of Capitol. Nonstop public whining. Waukegan held up as a victory while Nottingham can get f***ed. Claiming he is being silenced, while refusing to do interviews. Wtf has this become?

I get it tho, I didn’t post here enough in the past for your liking. Morrissey drones on and on about free speech. Is that not allowed me, here?

I’ll try to be more cleverer next time. It’s just that you seem to be repeating the same complaints over and over. With respect, I think by now we all get your point of view.

It keeps getting weirder every day. Once there is nothing glaringly obvious to call out, I’ll stop.

Until then, feel free to ignore me, respectfully.

There are no parallels between 1997 and now.

It’s like comparing the Oye Esteban tour with the ‘40 years of Morrissey’ shows

least my dishes are clean unlike yours which have a filthy rim,,,.

No, or Oasis. Feel free to follow them. And there are much more popular artists around, too.

But I guess some 40,000 people attended these shows. At an average ticket price of over 100$ that’s still a decent grossing tour.
No way did he play to 40k on his combined dates! Some of those not-sold-out venues were tiny and you know, that's on Morrissey. He made his bed and he is sleeping in it, with no record deal to keep him warm.

eh is there a reason why you included me in this .

Can we get a total attendance figure? Probably not as many people as these guys...;);)

jingoistic nonsense, the killers like coldplay know their best days are behind them, the killers wont do a hot fuss and coldplay wont do a parachutes again, two of my favourite albums i might add.

I had a few minutes so I gathered seating capacities for all venues (bold indicates a sold out show based on the last tour poster I saw):
  • Houston, 713 Music Hall - 5,000
  • Dallas, Music Hall at Fair Park - 3,420
  • Little Rock, Robinson Center Performance Hall - 2,222
  • Birmingham, Alabama Theatre - 2,500
  • Knoxville, Tennessee Theatre - 1,631
  • Durham, Durham Performing Arts Center - 2,712
  • Baltimore, The Lyric Baltimore - 2,564
  • Newark, New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Prudential Hall - 3,352
  • Atlantic City, Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - 5,500
  • Rochester, Kodak Center - 1,968
  • Niagra Falls, Fallsview Casino Resort (OLG Stage) - 5,000
  • Flint, Capitol Theatre - 1,500
  • Indianapolis, Murat Theatre - 2,675
  • Waukegan, Genesee Theatre - 2,403
The total is 42,447, so that would be the most possible if every show sold out.

Update: OK, now I'm spending too much time on this ;). So if we add up the sold out shows and credit 100% to the total, it's 23,634, which leaves a remaining 18,813 possible attendees. Since we don't know what percentage the other shows sold, we guesstimate. So if you assume the rest of the shows sold at an avg. of 75% of capacity that would be 14,110, which brings the total estimated attendance to 37,744 (obviously it could be higher or lower). All in all, I'd say @Thewlis estimate of 40,000 was pretty spot on.

Back when he did Jools Holland for Quarry he was asked "why the long wait" and Moz said something about "I was looking for a deal and couldn't get a deal, it's as boring as that". Or words to that effect. So I assume he held out for a great deal and was signed on the power of showcasing brilliant songs live in 2002 (Irish Blood, First of Gang, Crashing Bores, I Like You). The live version of I Like You in 2002 was way faster than the album version & subsequent live versions.

Moz went on to insult Jools by telling him it wasn't that long since his last Jools appearance and then refused the "knock knock" joke ("I'm not in"). It was cringe TV, as was the Southpaw/Sunny Jools interview in the 90's. Great song performances but the interviews were car crashes.
That's because Jools Holland is an absolute dork. Most of his interviews with contrarians are train wrecks.

Do you realize how ironic it is writing that The Killers and Coldplay's "best days are behind them?" Yeah Coldplay sucks but The Killers...they are incredibly vital.

but wouldnt know a decent melody if it slapped them on the face and said im a decent melody.
hot fuss was a great album but it was done when they were at their youthful best, take keane their hopes and fears album was an amazing album of pure pop songs, but they couldnt capture the ingredients that made hopes and fears so great with future albums.
