Morrissey Central "No Mask Mandate" (December 4, 2024)

December 4, 2024

Contrary to some Events Page information, no masks are required or encouraged at the upcoming Morrissey concerts in Los Angeles.

This is an odd post. I do not care for it.

I will give Morrissey the benefit of the doubt that he just wanted to take a jab at the wet market again. I think sometimes he thinks only of animal rights.

Where I live sometimes people are disrespectful and hateful towards those choose or need to wear a mask and that does not sit well with me.
His post doesn't sit well with me either. Sadly it sounds like something RFK Jnr would say.

If someone chooses to wear a mask that's their business and no one else's. If someone wears sunscreen to protect themselves from harmful UV rays (which is what we all do in the southern hemisphere where I live) should they be treated as a social pariah?

You don't know that mask wearer's circumstances.

They may be immunocompromised or looking after someone who is immunocompromised.

They may be scarred by seeing a loved one pass away from Covid - and many people have died and are continuing to die from Covid.

They may have had a terrible experience themselves with Covid and long Covid.

They may have read the scientific studies which support the wearing of masks to protect themselves and those around them.

They may have read the scientific studies which show that Covid is not just a cold as the powers that be say because they want business - and their profits - to keep ticking along. Covid is a serious cardiovascular disease which affects the heart, the brain and other organs.

They may actually have Covid.

I was seriously thinking about travelling to these shows but I've changed my mind now that Morrissey is publicly discouraging mask wearing and thereby encouraging the bullying of mask wearers.

Exactly, sad to see Morrissey side with the anti-science crowd.

It's a ridiculous post re the mask policy, I agree.

But with regard to the wet market / lab debate, I'm not sure we'll ever know and there's plenty of evidence suggesting it could well have been the former.
Good luck convincing the tinfoil brigade of that!

Agreed - in Australia they made the covid vaccine mandatory or else we could go nowhere (we had to show a certificate to prove we had the vaccinations), and they shut the borders between the states so we could not even travel between the states to see our loved ones even if they lived just over the border between Queensland and New South Wales. It divided our country in a terrible way. And the vaccines.............well we were all human guinea pigs I think really??????

Regarding masks - some people still wear them here especially if they are vulnerable - but most do not.
It has been a common practice here though for Asian people to wear masks even before Covid if they have a cold as respect to others not to spread it.

I have noticed a lot of businesses, venues & websites here still have the "covid rules" up as they forget to take them down - it is 2025 next year folks ..............please update your stuff :ROFLMAO:

I have even seen some places still with the big circles you had to stand on in queues to make sure you stay 1.5m apart :ROFLMAO:
Victorians like myself suffered far longer lockdowns than the rest of Australia - 262 days to be exact.

But we were relieved that we prioritised health over profits did and therefore never experienced the terrible death rates seen in other countries.

As a result much of the country was relatively Covid-free until Gladys Berejiklian took too little action too late in 2021 causing a major Covid outbreak and lockdown in NSW.

People complaining about the border closures because they couldn't see their families probably only ever saw their families once a year - if that!

Also, the vaccines have undoubtedly saved a lot of lives. The vaccines are far from perfect and more funding needs to go into the next generation of vaccines but because of them we are in a much better place than we were four years ago.

M throwing a hand grenade and watching the usual suspects explode.
did he not post this exact same message a couple of years ago about an upcoming show.

when you see some of the faces on here they could do with a mask, quasimodos r us.

It was recommended in certain spaces and areas, but there was never a forced mandate.
I know, Gregor! As it turns out, my good friend bun bun is from Sweden! He kept me abreast of all the Swedish news during the scamdemic!!

Did you wish the Swedish government had gone harder, deeper, faster on all the covid policies?

No, I think we did alright. 👍🏻

Now, that we have clarified this marginal scientific uncertainty, nothing stands in the way of the "sold out" stamp.

Rules are made to be broken! This is a show where we live, love, sing, laugh, cry. You don't need a mask - nobody is dying of Covid anymore. However, if your immune system is compromised, by all means, feel free...

He just doesn't want you to feel pressured into something that isn't necessary, and he wants to see your beautiful faces, not the masks. And we all know he's going to throw out that message...so, I don't see the big deal. Paul McCartney would applaud.

Ha, that's a bit creepy! Anyway, I don't often read comments or post for various reasons (mainly time). I usually just scan the headlines. But when I do post I post anonymously because I can't be bothered signing in. But I had to speak up about this matter and I signed in because I didn't want to have to wait for the moderators to approve my posts.

About 1k+ deaths per week have been reported for most of 2024 in the USA even with limited data from hospitals and the like. So to say that nobody is dying from Covid anymore is completely and utterly wrong.

Well, what I meant is that Covid is not what it used to be and masks are no longer needed for most people. Of course people are still dying from it, just as they are from the Flu and Pneumonia.

We're so honoured you crawled out from under your bed to educate us on this very important topic!
