Contrary to some Events Page information, no masks are required or encouraged at the upcoming Morrissey concerts in Los Angeles.

Yes, I agree. I don't really understand the fuss. For me it's this....

It just says "you may be asked to wear a face mask, but you don't have to if you don't want to". How did it turn into "Insane old man forbids people to wear masks"? I have no idea.
When Morrissey-In-My-Head starts to misbehave, I do a few breathing exercises to relax.

Wasnt the death toll conciderably higher in Sweden than in neighboring nordic countries where there was stricter lockdowns? Especially in the beginning when many elderly and vunerable died?

That was an outcome they were willing to risk evidently. I believe their reaction is widely considered a failure of public policy.

I agree it shouldn't be mandated...but, I don't think it even is anymore in many places (beyond medical settings where it should be). So it's kinda a moot point. That being said, any individual privately owned place that does want to mandate it should have their right to do so and if people don't like it then don't go.

Im a mask wearing person in a lot of heavily crowded situations like public transport or a concert. A lot for my own protection as i have a weakened immune system after bouts of chemo. I don't really want nor need people's validation. I think a lot of people who don't want to wear masks have huge victim complexes. Some people literally are offended by my wearing it. Last gig I was at I had some c*** screaming at me to take it off as if it was impacting his ability to enjoy a show somehow. If you're that precious then you got therapy to get yourself to.

No. However one factor to consider when referring to the early deaths of the elderly is that Sweden has a far bigger elderly population than its Nordic neighbours, so yeah, the death toll of the elderly from anything, even the flu, would naturally be higher. Simple math, dude.

Exactly this. I noticed that on the site too. I don't think it's anything more than that, he or management wanted to preempt questions/issues and put out the clarifying statement.

In the US anyway, as far as I know, there are no mask mandates. If a place like a medical facility asks for it... that's a policy and a request, not an official government mandate. As I mentioned earlier, I just took my Mom to an urgent care facility. I was surprised to see that masks were not required. They were offered and some wore them but not required.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, parts of California have introduced mask mandates for some healthcare facilities.
