Andy Warhol was / is.
Andy Rourke wasn't.
Of course he was

Is it still 'panto' season? Oh no, he wasn't.
This was people Moz idolises and views as cultural icons. There are many people not in the montage that Morrissey loves and admires, including many commemorated in posts on Moz Central. But again, as far as 'cultural icons' go - few would include Andy Rourke. Would you?

prince is another one, apart from being vegan they have very little in common although i remember reading on here years ago that prince wanted to have dinner with morrissey but they just missed each other when they were performing in the same city.
cant see M dancing to sexy mother f..... ,then again noone knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I actually would since he's regarded as one of the best bassists of his generation in what is considered by many to be the one of the best and most influential bands of that generation.

And no doubt if asked to create a montage of musicians that he loves and admires - Morrissey would include Andy Rourke.

I don't think we can agree here, have a nice day and happy New Year

Sounds nerdy, but this talk about the countdown to midnight reminds me of his appearance on Jools Holland and his refusal to respond to Jools' "knock knock" joke.
He’s so afraid of looking stupid that he doesn’t participate…. Which ends up being the thing that makes him look stupid.

You could cut the tension on stage with a knife during the countdown/sign/hugs. So uncomfortable and forced. And unnecessary, let’s be honest.

she will be on here all day telling us how bad the shows were without even having attended them,
she is always going on about fionas weight,i think she might be one of those big fat ameicans you see in documentaries, she will be destroying a king size gateaux as we speak.
I just don't get it Gordy. I'm just a simple Welshman who has recorded his life in Moz lyrics. No drama, no need to shout into the internet. I've had a creative life. Met him twice (shock, horror, alert the Moz Police) just after Southpaw. He was charming, witty and friendly. If they don't like him anymore, why the f*** do they still come here? Keep the faith.

I did think that too, and he did not seem happy at all.
What do you think about the DJ who played for an hour at the end having a recorded copy of Notre Dame. Is it out there?

Speaking for myself, I love a good car crash. Especially when I’ve been watching that car drive down the autobahn for 35 years already, with no real indication this was coming.

And you are right, he does look frumpy. Most people dress up on NYE. Moz looked like he was just back from physical therapy.

I have nothing to add on Notre Dame, other than having the DJ play it makes about as much sense as anything else does in Mozzerland these past 10 years.

From what I’ve gleaned, people are saying it sounds different enough from past live versions, that people think it might have been re-recorded per M’s interview with Fiona? Do I have that right?

It seems people here think it was re recorded which is probably due to him saying he's scrapped some of the album it's on. If that means re recorded or some songs were just dropped is anyone's guess at this point, I was really hoping that one was dropped because he sounds like an absolute nutter in it.
If he was going to have the DJ play it, it would have made more sense to you know, turn it into a listening party for one or both albums as a cool way to end the show, but good ideas are not his forte. Sure, people might have recorded them, but that's called publicity, it would have gotten people talking about them. He's a dunce.

I’m not sure how people are comparing a past live version with a studio version, and coming away with the conclusion that what the DJ played must be the “new” studio version.

I do know that the interview wasn’t really clear about if the songs that made the cut were actually re recorded as well.

That said, if ND was spun on NYE, we can be pretty sure some form of it is gonna on the album we are never going to hear.

A listening party (and surprise show) was being planned when management was fired. Venues were physically scouted in LA w/ J.Tobias. If Moz wanted a listening party, all he had to do was say “yes”.

I don't know how people are coming to the conclusion that's its a new version either and yes, the interview was not clear.
He is so self destructive. I think a listening party was probably his last option to get the attention he is trying to get about these albums, if people heard them and spoke positively of them, maybe a record company would listen. The live versions are terrible, but they are out there so I don't see a huge difference in putting the recorded versions out there at this point.

Yes, that is indeed the biggest compliment.
They need him, and know more about him than most fans know about their fave artists.

And it certainly makes this place a funny one to visit, and the ‘hateful online crèche’ one of his most apt discriptions ever.
