"The Spivs Close In" appears correct on the drum head.
I can only find one usage of this phrase used in relation to the film Holiday Camp (1947) - which features a very young Diana Dors as a dancer.
It would be beyond obscure if this was the reference, but that film certainly fits Morrissey's tastes.
(not forgetting the band or WW2 petty crooks).
FWD.

I think this is the film, Holiday Camp: "During the immediate post-war, the Huggetts were undoubtedly the“uks” favourite family film.A working class family, they epitomised the spirit of a united family bounded by war and a down to earth family commitment to help to each other and others during this period, stay safe and warm and enjoy it.

The opening credits, at least, omit Diano Dors' name, and where the phrase used on the drum is to be found awaits discovery.

Another stage invader. Older woman. Very gentle little hug.
Yeah, that's me. Older woman (lol, not THAT old!). Glad to be labeled as "very gentle little hug". Never imagined I'd climb on stage, but the opportunity was there and I will probably never be standing center pit at the stage again in my life. And yeah, I'm old. BTW, if anyone reading this has photos or video of the old woman wearing a pink denim jacket hugging Moz, please let me know.

PS: great job with laying out the show, Spooked. I have some vids up. I'm sure people will find them if they want to see.

She wrote Frozen with frequent collaborator, Patrick Leonard - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Leonard

Morrissey's song Ammunition, among others, shares sentiments with Frozen.
Madonna & Pat Leonards collaborations are all stellar ones - let us not forget the whole genius of the Like A Prayer Album & even Princes input on that too 💓 I am hoping her next album is going to go back to those roots.

Frozen is an interesting choice by Morrissey & it is one of beauty.

Alain Whyte and Madonna wrote together too - a song called "Love Spent" .........I would love Morrissey to cover this one.

She wrote this when her marriage broke up with Guy Ritchie and it is on the MDNA album :thumb:

Some of you may enjoy this version:

Thanks for posting them! Don't seem to be many going up just yet.

Intrigued by the Dear God false starts - seemed to be a problem between Matt & Camilla's stage links... or something. Gave M a chance to fill in. He seemed in great spirits.

Morrissey reverting to introducing the band seems less strained, overall imo.

Btw, I can't remember or find which show it's from, but in at least one version of I Will See You In Far-Off Places, he changes words to, 'and if the EU [rather than the USA} doesn't bomb you.'

Doubt that! Brave man to ask a woman her age in front of the whole world, and then announce it, to boot! A woman renowned as one of the top guitar talents around too! [see posts a bit further on in this thread; apparently in jest, Morrissey was addressing a stage invader, not Carmen!] But good to see everyone on stage relaxed with each other and getting along.

It surprises me a little that Bones UK, Carmen's band, has no tour dates lined up, just weeks after the release of their new album, Soft. I wonder why they're not promoting it in the usual way? I'd like to catch them play sometime.

Thanks for an excellent service and going beyond the call of duty, Spooked, deserving of World's Best Live Show Insider Reporting Award! 🥇:scroll::trophy:🧡
Yes! The birthday stuff was directed towards a younger person standing in the pit in the front row. I couldn't quite hear the entire conversation. I think when he said 36 it was because the person in the front row said she 16? If I heard correctly, she said "16!" And Moz said "36?" I think just teasing her!

And I'm glad that the updates were so useful! Hopefully I can do something similar for Baltimore 💕

I swear! Next show everyone is shirt color! I was just trying to take quick notes, I swear 😭 I didn't mean anything untoward!

And you're welcome! I had so much fun 💕

You're most welcome! I love the beginning where he pretends to read from what looks to be a set list.

Yes, it was a full house and amazing show. Surprising there aren't more videos yet.

And I actually didn't even notice the false starts as Moz was so entertaining with the bantering. It all felt natural.

Lol. No worries, I actually understood what you were saying. Young person, older person. I'd have described the same way. Moz audience is pretty wide age range.

Look up the HSIN video posted by me on YouTube and you'll hear the full exchange at around 5min. I was the one talking with him and the girl about the birthday and you've got that pretty spot on. Very helpful for everyone, thank you.

Can't believe I managed to get most of it! Lol it was so loud up in the balcony, I could barely hear the younger girl. 😅

I'll go look up your video here in a bit!! I'm glad you recorded some of it!

I had really thought he'd started dating Ryan Lowry! I can't believe him and Damon are still together. Is Damon jealous of Ryan at all?? I'm dying to know 👀
Ryan Lowry is married to a woman, and Damon is his personal assistant. It’s not as twisted as everyone believes it to be. Morrissey would never treat anyone he’s in a relationship with like an employee.

It's unbelievable how many words of supposition have spilled over one photo of Moz walking briskly into the back entrance of the Tennessee Theatre before the show. I know, because I was there and saw the fellow fan who took the photo. We were simply waiting for Morrissey to arrive and he gave us a pleasant greeting as we welcomed him to Knoxville and he was being whisked in by security. The show was absolutely incredible.
Which photo are you referring to? 👀🤔

I've said it before, I'm fascinated and love it that he has so many new, young fans. My daughter of 20 and her friends are also starting to appreciate his music and I've heard it playing (very loudly) at some of their parties on a Friday night. My job as a parent is done.

It's why I keep going! Because we've learned it's how we get our own personal remixes or how we hear his quirky takes or Jabs, and unfortunately our only way to hear new tracks.
Nice to see people being kind to him
Reviews like this are nice to see. How much are they still 'a thing' for acts in general? Not overtaken yet by social media short bites?

Here's a close-up clip of handshakes near the end of the show
