Morrissey will be leading the countdown from stage...

I think we all do. If you read the flyer carefully as well, nowhere does it suggest that the countdown will actually be conducted by El Moz. I think we have to assume that he will probably be long gone off the stage by then. Still, Moz on New Year's Eve sounds rather wonderful.
The flyer does not but the facebook post says he will be leading the countdown from stage. Regardless, I think the concert sounds absolutely delightful. 😍

Tina and her/his asian friend on rushed promo posters. Yes, what is it, you want to communicate to us?
That he likes Chinese people and Middle Eastern people

I was at both those shows in 2000. Metro was announced from stage at the Chicago Theater show. Tix were only available the next day at the box office. He did in fact change up the set for Metro adding Ouija, Hated and Boxers, and it was this, back when 16 songs was about all we got:

A Swallow On My Neck / I Am Hated For Loving / Ouija Board, Ouija Board / Billy Budd / Is It Really So Strange? / Lost / Now My Heart Is Full / The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils / Half A Person / Boxers / Tomorrow / I Can Have Both / Meat Is Murder / Hairdresser On Fire / Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me // Shoplifters Of The World Unite

Here is a pic I took, along with a blast from the past for how this site used to work:)

The money I would pay to be able to go back and experience one of these shows from this era…

Ridiculous setlists - Is it really so strange? / Lost / Now my heart is Full is a run of songs we can only dream of hearing now 😔

I am Hated for Loving / Boxers / Hairdresser on Fire / Tomorrow all long overdue a return as well. It’s crazy when you actually think about the amount of songs he starves us of in the live arena (specifically UK tours post 2011).

If I got to hear 1 of the above live it would be amazing and go straight into my top Moz gigs but time is seriously running out

woah just noticed that the bronx, or meriachi el bronx are supporting which is insane to me. i love the bronx and wouldnt have imagined them playing this show in a billion years even as the alter ego. excellent choice by whomever but really weird

White guys playing mariachi music. Absolutely horrid. I'm hoping that he cancels just so they don't get to play.
Not sure what the amount of melanin they have in their skin has to do with anything? Are Mexicans not allowed to play 'classical music'? Music is music. Not all the members of The Pogues were Irish.

It's not that anyone isn't allowed to play whatever they want. Of course they can. It's just that sometimes it comes across as gimmicky and inauthentic. Like the K-pop girl-group singer rapping about "dolla bills":

Drop some money, all this bread so yummy, yeah
Twerkin', twerkin' when I buy the things I like
Dollar, dollars droppin' on my ass tonight

At some point it's okay to point out that someone from outside a culture is foolishly appropriating the most obvious, lamest, and tired tropes of that culture. That's what it looks like when a "Warped Tour" punk-pop band wears sequined mariachi outfits. Anyone can play Mozart still, but usually they don't dress up in powdered wigs, frilled shirts, and knee breeches like they're in Barry Lydon.

i will say that the bronx were are a very loud gritty abrasive hardcore band that threw everyone for a loop when they started making mariachi records of which i believe there are three.

the bronx - heart attack american (from the debut)

mariachi el bronx - wildfires

they opned for refused and the hives before and put on a cool show

The Chicago Theatre show was my first full-length Morrissey show - my true first was the abbreviated Riviera set on the Maladjusted tour - and my first time in the Loop, a few years before I relocated to Chicago. It was a great set and I vividly remember the DJ announcing the Metro show on stage and gnashing teeth collectively with my friend that we couldn't make it back for that show. I gnashed my teeth even harder when I saw the above wrap-up and read he premiered "Ouija Board, Ouija Board" at the "bonus" show.

My second show was meant to be 1997 Minneapolis, the one that was canceled the day of because he got sick in Chicago and cut the set short at the Riviera. So my second ended up being Madison w/ The Promise Ring, third Chicago Theater, and fourth Metro. It was a fun week. I have more pix from Metro I’ll post here in the next day or so.

Their sound there reminds me of Tiger Army.
