Morrissey will be leading the countdown from stage...
Yes. I’d fly in if he were playing Pregnant. But The Loop and Jack The Ripper need to go. So many better rockabilly songs. Pregnant or Sing Your Life would be welcome
Please, please, please livestream the NYE show!! The perfect holiday gift for us adoring fans!!sam should stream it live on youtube because lets face it unless your out and about the bells can be a bit boring and thats coming from a scot who are world leaders when it comes to the new year.
White guys playing mariachi music. Absolutely horrid. I'm hoping that he cancels just so they don't get to play.Who is Mariachi El Bronx ?
Yes. I’d fly in if he were playing Pregnant.
Many doctors would advise against that.Yes. I’d fly in if he were playing Pregnant.
I think we all do. If you read the flyer carefully as well, nowhere does it suggest that the countdown will actually be conducted by El Moz. I think we have to assume that he will probably be long gone off the stage by then. Still, Moz on New Year's Eve sounds rather wonderful.However...I have a very hard time imagining M doing a NYE countdown!! Would be amazing though!!

Agreed totally. And I don't think we should assume he won't do something along those lines for the NYE set.I get that, but at special events like these I think he should put the effort in to add in rarely played gems or even unplayed material. Imagine a New Year’s gig where he throws out Ammunition finally, along with the likes of Drag The River, You Were Good In Your Time and Well I Wonder.
Like back when he randomly pulled I Keep Mine Hidden from the sands of time. Even if it were for a few select shows it would be special and appreciated.
I was at both those shows in 2000. Metro was announced from stage at the Chicago Theater show. Tix were only available the next day at the box office. He did in fact change up the set for Metro adding Ouija, Hated and Boxers, and it was this, back when 16 songs was about all we got:Agreed totally. I seem to recall (granted this was MANY years ago) where he played the Chicago Theater (amazing show) and then randomly played the Cabaret Metro the next night, total surprise announcement...the Metro is a small but legendary Chicago venue that usually hosts lesser known artists and newer bands. But I seem to recall he played a totally different set. Again, this was 25 years ago, and I could be misremembering.
As someone who remembers when he didn’t play Smiths songs, it feels weird to complain about Shoplifers and HSIN being played so much, so I won’t.
I will say I’ve taken a friend to see him on Broadway, Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, Kings Theater and Newark (all since 2019) and she commented on Loop, Sunday, Ripper, Alma being played all the time. And as much as I love those, it does seem time to fully shake things up and consider cutting Loop/Sunday/Ripper/Alma to make room for others. But he won’t, and we will still buy tix. I remember seeing him two nights at HOB in Vegas in 2002 and he commented at the beginning of night two how he was going to shake up she set…. And he played the exact same thing as the night before. Hahahaha
But hey, we got Our Frank and We Hate It recently, so it’s all good.
That's badass. Yeah I remember it being announced on stage that first night. Didn't make the Metro show but I heard it was amazing. Looking back I have no idea HOW I "heard" but I did hear.I was at both those shows in 2000. Metro was announced from stage at the Chicago Theater show. Here is a pic I took, along with a blast from the past for how this site used to work

At the Chicago Theater he had one of his all time best insults to Johnny. He said: “Johnny Marr was Steven Spielbergs first choice for E.T.!” HahahahThat's badass. I went alone to the Chicago Theater show. Struck up a conversation with the two girls behind me in line. Turns out they were sat directly in front of of me in the balcony! We got along and they, god bless them, got my ticket for Metro! I have never seen either of them since that night. That's badass. Yeah I remember it being announced on stage that first night. Feck me, as Dirk would say, he really does seem to like bands from the "So Cal punk" scene 90s onwards. This one seems particularly odious in their mariachi band iteration. But what do I know, maybe they're considered positive interlopers by the chicanos in Morrissey's L.A. fan base.
Or maybe the dough-bodied skinny jeans dad-rockers in Morrissey's L.A. fan base like them from "back in the day, bro." Somehow I have to imagine Morrissey in his Sunset Marquis villa, donning a pair of headphones and lowering a Sublime LP onto the record player.
I love the song Jack the Ripper a lot ......but not a fan of the "rats" bit at the end, kind of spoils the spookiness of the songHow long has he been doing the rats bit? FWD would know...
