The latest episode of the Morrissey and Wine podcast features an interview with Boz Boorer. He talks to Chris and George about Moz's "abysmal" treatment in the media, shares the songwriting process and reminisces about his on-stage drag persona Gaynor Tension, all while enjoying a crisp Portuguese beer. He also gives us an insight into his new album, Morrissey Reimagined, which is available now on Bandcamp.

George's grandma Nanny Val makes a return, this time reacting to 'Spent The Day In Bed', the trivia quiz is back and we analyse the lyrics of three songs where Boz has played an important role: 'Oboe Concerto', 'Speedway' and 'Rebels Without Applause'.

For the first time, you can now watch Morrissey and Wine on YouTube. But if you prefer your podcasts the old-fashioned way, we're still on Apple, Spotify and all major platforms.

What I find strange is that Morrissey made no acknowledgment via Central or at a gig that Boz was stepping down from his role. Especially after he had been with him for so long. No "Boz is having a well earned rest/retirement, thank you Boz".

It suggests to me that Morrissey was pissed off at him for quitting, if indeed it was Boz's decision to quit. He seems quite cagey about it in this interview and to my knowledge has never elaborated on why he is no longer playing for Morrissey, simply that he isn't.

Didn't he step down during covid. when his wife got ill and decided to move to Portugal?

Boz is the Biz! Very capable and skilled, and a friendly sound human being. The earnestness with which Chris and George put their questions rewarded them with an interesting pleasant chat.

I wondered about the demo CDs of Morrissey Reimagined sent out. Hopefully it'll be a grower. Despite parting ways, it sounds like Boz' heart is still open to Morrissey and that he has an inbuilt sense of fairness. Quite a star in his own right too. Viva Boz! 🫡
