Alain Whyte gives 'Morrissey and Wine' podcast sneak peek at new Moz album

Alain Whyte, Moz's most prolific songwriter, appears on the latest episode of the 'Morrissey and Wine' podcast - out today. He reveals that the as-yet-unheard album 'Without Music The World Dies' has a 70s sound, 'Suspicious Minds' on the track listing is indeed a cover, which he says sounds great, and he tells us that Notre-Dame had extra lyrics which were cut out - plus plenty of other tidbits and stories.

We've also got Nanny Val back to react to 'The Operation', the ten-question trivia quiz returns and hosts Chris and George dissect the lyrics of one of Alain's tracks - 'Life is a Pigsty' from 'Ringleader of the Tormentors'.

Cheers everyone! 👋

Alain's comment on WMTWD below grabbed my attention.

Alain: "Who knows if the same songs will be on that record? As you know, I'm not currently in the band, so he might track fresh material with the guys he has right now."

I guess there is a possibility M could reshuffle the tracklisting with newer songs. Wasn't there an article a few weeks back which mentioned Carmen was currently recording studio songs with Morrissey?
The worry with that is that Morrissey will wipe Alain’s guitar parts on the songs and replace them with Carmen’s…

One more shameless promotion while it's still a semi-relevant topic of discussion.

Again, it's been shared elsewhere here on the site (thanks again!), but here is the newest release of the Safe At Homes vids. The song Alain has stated is his favorite of all the songs he's written for Mozzer.

Great vocals by Alain here and of course the guitar is beautiful too.

Hello Famous when dead. Surely you must admit that it is widely acknowledged by Morrissey and Smiths fans that, at times, Morrissey-Solo could be described as "toxic"? I have been using this site for more than a decade and I would not disagree with someone if they used that term to describe some aspects of the forum. Even Morrissey himself has, of course, made his not-so-favourable opinions about the site known. However, it is a very popular site for fans and provides a good service in many ways - I have met friends through it and had many interesting conversations. Sometimes when recording you make comments that, in an ideal world, could be better phrased or explained.

Says all of this, and yet benefits from the exposure. What mental gymnastics you must go through in order to appease your god and master?

I had a listen , good luck to em Bender and Slobs idea of what M”s words about are hilariously fecking bad. I listened to the one with boz and it was funny. Boz was bored and you could tell they.had not got a scobby it’s all Mozpieda crap . I wish them luck, any long term fan won’t get anything from the hosts but fair play to them getting the guests.
I think if they stick at it they maybe on to something
It’s obvious the hosts are on here ALOT . So the toxic thing is funny AF

I assumed that was for yet another album - but who knows?

I love that song.
It’s a great tune and I especially love what Alain and the fellas did with it. IMO, it’s how the song “should” be played. The stand up bass just gives it that little extra something. The nod to “Pregamt” was a perfect touch, too.

I frequently spoke to Alain when he was holed up at La Fabrique and he told me on more than one occasion he thought Gus was killing it and his songs were the best on the record. But, what does he know? 😉

maybe M will combine teenager and without music and give us a double album to make up for the drought we are now experiencing.

when was the last time you saw a double album and are they a thing of yester-year so record companies can get more sales and tours out of each album,,answers on a postcard to the usual address.

Yeah - I thought the current band lineup were recording another new album at the moment? Presumably they'd want to get it in the can before the tour starts, so hopefully we'll hear some news about the third unreleased Morrissey album soon.

Johnny Marr’s last studio album Fever Dreams was a double album, as was the re-releases of Boomslang and Adrenaline Baby live.

By “70s sound”, does he actually mean that MOZI will be in his 70s before any of us hear this god-forsaken album.

And I dread to think what the lyrics cut from Notre Dame were.
Why do you dread to think what the lyrics were? Is it because anyone who doesn't fall in line with the Guardian/BBC Corbynite bed-wetter mentality must be a bigoted fascist, covered in swastikas with an Adolf Hitler duvet? Why don't you learn to think for yourself?

No, the lyrics that weren’t cut are shit, so I dread to think how bad the ones that were cut are.
Why don’t you go for a lie down, dear, you’re obviously having a bad day.

I have been enjoying the podcast and as a newbie I am learning a lot from it. :thumb:

I only wish Chris would speak a little louder as he is softly spoken so when I am driving in the car sometimes he is harder to hear & I can miss his comments - but I appreciate the work they are doing ...........and it is a fun listen but I recommend they spend a bit more on wine so as not to be drinking something that likely tastes more like vinegar:LOL:
