Always thought Burke was massively overrated as an actor (one look, one voice, one persona). Comments like this, however, are clumsy but understandable when Morrissey went out of his way to back a far right political party. Not publicly retracting his ill-judged support for For Britain is the number one biggest mistake of his life.
Why would he retract something he believes? He is who he is.

What was on is this badge? People are mad about a badge? It sounds like it must have killed some body, my goodness. 🤔

it only killed off the casual fans.

did it ever really exist? Even his passing interest in her couldn’t save it.

Ironically enough it didn't kill off the casual fans.
The ones who were most obsessed with Morrissey were the ones who were most affected. Those who had constructed their own image around him such as Martin Rossiter, Stewart Lee and Uncle Skinny were the ones who were most aghast/sickened, and have felt obliged to distance themselves from (or publicly criticise) him the most.
Why? Because all their friends/family associate them with Morrissey, so when Morrissey supports the far right, it is assumed that his dedicated disciples do, too, hence their extreme reactions.
I'm a casual fan of groups like The Cure, New Order and Depeche Mode. Couldn't care less what the singer's politics are, never visit their websites, no friends or family associate me with them - if they say vote for some bigoted berk, I may not even hear about it (as just a casual fan).
So, it's some of his biggest fans that have decided to move on, not the casual ones.

I think it was the far right political scandal, associated with racism and Brexit, there are threads all over here about it if you are interested

So, if Kathy was a man, then I'd be a man hater?
Not how that works. Misogyny is hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. It is a form of sexism that can keep women at a lower social status than men. Do you believe that women operate at a higher social status than men?

Sorry. They’re just casual fans to me.

Nah, it’s casual fans that believe the repeated clickbait.

It was a For Britain badge, a political movement set up by Anne Marie Waters

Anne Marie Waters

Depending on your political leaning, seeing Morrissey wear the badge and support AMW could make you mad! Or disappointed, or both and more.

Casual fans aren't even seeing the clickbait. I've never seen a single piece of clickbait about The Cure or Depeche Mode, as I'm just not interested in them beyond attending the odd concert.
Presumably you don't consider Uncle Skinny to be a casual fan?
