I was just lying awake the other night wondering if it was still okay to like Morrissey, and what would Kathy Burke think about it, and then here comes this article right on cue.

His work peaked as a younger man. This is pretty normal.

Nah. All artists that peaked when they were younger, are now racists, or look racist. It’s the new normal.

It’s all neither here nor there really. She was great in Nil by Mouth. But Morrissey teased out her best performance.

You can like or dislike Morrissey, but nobody with any degree of intelligence thinks he's racist.
I'd disagree with that. I'm not saying I agree with the accusation (he's clearly anti-immigration and has some politically incorrect views on the spread of Islam etc, but I wouldn't go quite as far as to call him 'racist'). However - even on somewhere as obsessed by the minutiae of everything he ever said as Morrissey-Solo, there are those who think he is. And I would expect Kathy Burke, like most casual fans, probably gets her view from more mainsteam sources - when even something like The Simpsons calls you a 'massive racist' then it's not surprising that your name has been tarnished forever.

She's a bit of a rude redneck coarse common vulgar vulvic twat on The Importance Of Being Morrissey documentary. Once I saw her talking about how she reckoned Moz is a 'filthy bastard'* I stopped taking her seriously.

* I can't remember her exact words.

I think it was 'He's a right dirty bastard', I may be wrong, but that's pretty funny.

In 2024 Morrissey is a racist. But so are sidewalks, the weather, and birds. If you don't believe me just Google it!

When I hear the word "racist" in 2024, all I get from the speaker is, "I disagree, and am unwilling to back my position with reason or logic."

Who cares?

I like Ouija Board, it's funny. I think the video is one of his most entertaining.
I have to agree with do not meet people you admire, it's mostly been disappointment for me as the public persona is very different from the real person, but I would not comment publicly (not that anyone is asking me) like she has.

yesterday i watched an hour long video on youtube with james dreyfuss her co-star on gimme gimme gimme in the 90s,she has done the same with him, totally disowned anything they did in the past.great video about how he was cancelled because graham linehan asked him to sign a petition, james thought there would be loads of celebrities signing but alas there were very few so he was cancelled.
on a sidenote he did an audio thing for dr who and everything went fine and when the product came out they erased a picture from him on the cover, very similar to how M feels with being erased from all things the smiths.
great video if you have an hour, andrew gold/heretics on youtube.

It is weak to infer that Kathy is not beautiful when your hero is clearly unattractive himself now. What's that saying about glass houses?
the difference is the younger morrissey was viewed as being handsome, kathy burke even in her younger days would never be viewed as attractive.lets just say miss burke and a bar of soap are very rarely seen together.

If people were saying this about Fiona Dodwell, who is no beauty and quite fat, you'd be having a rage stroke.

Always thought Burke was massively overrated as an actor (one look, one voice, one persona). Comments like this, however, are clumsy but understandable when Morrissey went out of his way to back a far right political party. Not publicly retracting his ill-judged support for For Britain is the number one biggest mistake of his life.

This is probably true. A lot of misfortune could’ve easily been avoided.
