Inside information on Moz, Marr & management

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but M&M are two quite different types of human beings? Doing whatever Marr is doing there would make Morrissey feel physically ill, I suspect.

(Is one "nicer" than the other? Yes, absolutely.)

Moz could definitely use some advice though, from someone he used to listen to.

Johnny Marr will be partnering with music licensing giant Epidemic Sound to mentor some of their artists. "Marr will mentor three emerging Epidemic Sound artists, providing invaluable guidance on career development, artistic growth, and release strategies within the evolving music industry landscape."

And there's Morrissey, still operating on a business model from the last millennium.

Moz could definitely use some advice though, from someone he used to listen to.

I'm not saying that Morrissey would have the inclination, nor the knowledge to mentor young artists. But Morrissey could do with some professional mentorship himself.

Can you imagine Moz mentoring young people? "Never mind digital platforms, hold out for a major label deal with all the perks!"

“Remember BigPhono has ruined music- now beg and scrape for Miley to get you back with a major on TOTP!”

I’m not entirely sure what you’re saying there.

But Morrissey himself even said that Miley’s name on the album would benefit sales. He’s not above it.

“If Miley herself says it's OK to put her name on the 45 sleeve, then it is the word of She Who Must Be Obeyed. And, obviously, it would help me 700%, and it would shock the print media, and it would shock radio, and we'd be off to a great start.”

Poor Moz, he really does need help if he thought that.

I don't know, Mileys involvement would raise eyebrows and it would get the kind of attention a first single from a Moz album hasn't received since Spent The Day In Bed.
No, it would not. It's not a duet, Miley just does some backing vocals. She is well-known for liking old rock dudes and doing even a whole album with Flaming Lips didn't help that band commercially. Yes, some eyebrows might be raised, but that would not translate into anything substantial.

Billie Joe Armstrong's vocal, which one can barely even hear in the mix, didn't do much for "Wedding Bell Blues" sales or interest.

If you believe his comments after the fact, it didn't do too much for Armstrong either 😅

FWD.

Stick around? I've been coming here daily since 1997 and AM a diehard. That's exactly why I'm doing this, and EXACTLY why I was involved in the first f***ing place.

Thanks for this. If anyone can reccomend an easy way to rip audio from a browser, I can give all the non-assholes here a few treats.

I would be interested in a few treats if you are so inclined.

I just want to hear the bloody album. I'm amazed it hasn't leaked yet
It’s not as surprising as you may think. I’ve also managed record producers for decades. People directly involved with the recording process, especially with an artist like M, definitely don’t want to ruin the relationship by leaking the music. Even if they wanted to, it would be pretty obvious who leaked it. Given that this was recorded outside of the label system, Morrissey himself is the client, and he is probably the only one who has it.

Josh Klinghoffer stated in an interview that he has a copy of the album on his phone, so I expect a few of the main players have it. Though I agree it's not going to be in the interests of any of the people who directly worked on the album to leak it, as no one would ever trust them again.

Exactly. Anyone who has it was directly involved and won’t wanna be the one to leak it. It’s not like he’s signed to a label and an assistant in a&r got their hands on it. Nobody is gonna leak Rainbow Valley

Are you quoting a leaked, totally fake fabricated email attributed to Morrissey? Hahahahab

I mean it sounded plausibly-Morrissey (i.e., similar to the David Joseph back-and-forth with "Boz Boorer"), one could be forgiven for thinking its real. And if it were fake, it certainly seems the type of thing that Morrissey would take legal action for the implication that he sent that.
Could you give us some background on what went down there, why Scott Rodger would have posted that?

I really wanted to hear that song, too :( maybe one day...

I know. It would be the prefect thing for him to just self-release right now. He could have it up on Spotify in a weeks time if he wanted. At least let the nephew put it on YouTube.

Edit: actually this recording could be under the BMG deal, but there is also a chance it isn’t. However, he could totally pull “Suspicious Minds” from WMTWD and just release that cover now. Let people hear something new.
