Pete Galli, who as you know was Morrissey’s manager until a recent parting of ways, tells the Morrissey Mercury exclusively: “It was an honor to work with Morrissey. He is truly a genius and an inspiration.

“As one of the greatest living lyricists, poets, songwriters, performers and personalities, Morrissey also needs to be recognized as one of the greatest animal rights activists in history as well as a beacon for free speech and his unwillingness to compromise on his beliefs and artistic integrity.

“He is the living definition of a true artist and deserves to be respected and honored as a national and international treasure.”

Cheers everyone.

I'm autistic and the condition is still mystifying to me even now, ages after diagnosis. And, prior to that, I was as 'ignorant' as anyone unaffected by or unaware of ASD - as with apparently many people, for me 'autistic' = 'Rain Man'.

And so if Morrissey happened to be neurodivergent/autistic, and that information was made publicly available (hopefully by him or people of his choosing, of course), then there'd be an unfortunate risk that allistic folks would then perceive him and his symptoms/behaviour as completely representative...when the truth actually is that neurodivergent people can differ greatly from one another in these respects.

Sure, but it might be easier for M and for those he has interactions with if there were an explanation for it - not necessarily for public consumption, but in the interests of understanding on both sides.
Maybe. But Morrissey has a reputation for doing a lot of things where, neurodivergent or not, the only real answer is for him to change his behaviour. If, for example, someone sometimes decides to just not turn up for things, it's very hard to imagine people accepting that the answer is that they need to put up with it.

The statement clearly shows that Morrissey’s former manager holds Morrissey in the highest regard. This is not the statement of someone who has lost faith in Morrissey.

Boy, people here sure are susceptible to a bit of polite, positive PR.

A lot of overlap from this article about normality and neuro-divergence by someone diagnosed - https://znetwork.org/znetarticle/ne...ty-the-need-to-challenge-fraught-terminology/

Pete Galli's statement for 'the Mercury' is picked up by BritpopNews - https://britpopnews.com/morrissey-defended-by-manager-after-firing/

“There is no such thing in life as normal.”

But there are … too many crashing bores.

Some of the comments defending Morrissey are so hilarious! We're all fans, but seriously, he's been difficult to work with and has had problems with managers for years! Like, from the get-go. It's been well documented.
