I honestly think M's handling of recent events could have been significantly influenced by something going on with Linder.

If there is something going on with Linder, it's quite obvious that would throw him of course and hugely impact his emotional wellbeing - leading him to act and react in ways he might otherwise have considered with more clarity.

It's apparent that he's putting up barriers, and there appears to be the feeling of besiegement. It could explain a lot.

Linder's Instagram remains static since May...
Yes, I think there is something serious going on with her.

He posted a photo of them together without explanation on Central, in June.

Doesn’t he get half of the Smiths income as songwriters? Must be a few million a year at the way they are going now. Can’t see how he will spend that much on hotels ;)

But touring gets more immediate returns, yes.

Not sure, artists appear to get between $3k and 5k for 1 million streams.

Yes, that and a few other things seem to point to a potential issue. They were so close, from so early on - though I'm unsure how close they have been over the last couple of decades.

But either way, if something is happening to her, you can be sure it will destabilise Morrissey considerably.

I know, and The Smiths get 4,6 million streams a day, so that must be 18k-20k each day, which equals about 6-7 million dollars a year, to be split mainly between Marr and Morrissey one would think, as composers.

Guess Marr can put in an order for a new yacht, now that he has Morrissey's share.

Haha, he doesn’t of course, he just owns the trademark.

But Marr has become relatively a lot richer in the last decade due to his solo career taking off and The Smiths getting bigger and bigger on Spotify.

What did he mean by this though?

"Amongst many other things, this means that Marr can now tour as The Smiths using the vocalist of his choice, and it also prohibits Morrissey from using the name whilst also denying Morrissey considerable financial livelihood."

Just that Morrissey cannot tour as The Smiths, as was suggested by Gene Simmons the day before.

Theoretically Johnny could and Morrissey cannot, that’s all. But neither will/would do so anyway.

And he can still sign the document of course, it only needs an autograph.

I think Mike gets a % as well, can't remember how much though although I remember a post on Solo where Merck claimed Mike received all of Morrissey's Smith royalties, no idea if that's true though.

Yes, that was a very strange story, and apparantly he was also after Morrissey’s and his mum’s house? Such were the rumours then.

I never really believed it but it was rumoured that it was the reason why he left the UK at the time.

Anyway, I suppose that’s long over now and Mike got his share in the end.

Not sure the 2 bits are connected, I think the house situation was due to Morrissey not responding to legal requests, the Merck comments were more recent and he claimed Mike gets 100% of Morrissey’s Warner Brothers Smiths royalties. maybe @Famous when dead knows more about the post.

Unlike Marr, Morrissey didn't pay up his share of what the court ordered him to pay Joyce (back pay of royalties).

I understand that in lieu of that, the court ordered Morrissey's share of Smiths royalties to be given to Joyce until Joyce had received what Morrissey was meant to pay him after the court case.

This was many years ago and I assume Morrissey has since resumed receiving Smiths recording royalties.

I believe the actual thing being sought were "assets", but the bit people are looking for re: Joyce/Merc is in this (2008):
Regards,
FWD.

How many times have we been here? Well, not me anymore, I’m well out.

He never quite manages to keep all 4 wheels on that wagon on his, does he?

And it goes without saying. It’s NEVER his fault.
