Those a pitiful number for someone of his “stature”In week of release, Low in High School sold 25,000 and survived 3 or so weeks in top 100.
In week of release, Dog on a Chain sold 6,000 and left the top 100 immediately.
Low in High School got much worse reviews but had one of Morrissey's most successful ever airplay 'hits' in Spent the Day in Bed. Makes all the difference.
His albums sell in decent enough numbers (tens of thousands) if Radio 2 playlist the lead single. Same for most of the acts of that generation.
Remember Johnny saying he was stressed out before a show somewhere to have some girl (probably very nice I'm sure, but singly unqualified) bounce up saying "hey Johnny guess what? I'm your new manager!".Maybe the atmosphere around the Smiths didn't help (regarding Morrissey's longstanding & current issues with having a manager...at all). Granted my only 'sources' are books about the band which I've read but it often appeared that people were frequently pushing themselves forward, either to become the Smiths' manager or even to join the band(!) For one reason or another, those people were very rarely suitable for the position they unsubtly aimed for and apparently it's not solely Morrissey who, understandably, became extremely wary of outsiders so blatantly seeking control and/or fame and fortune.
Yeah but it made virtually no difference. I picked up my copy in the local supermarket.Dog came out at the worst possible time. Wasn't it literally the week we went in to full lockdown or the week before. It'd be interesting to know what promotion we could have seen.
Maybe Alain Whyte will now consider coming back? Didn’t he say after briefly returning to the live lineup that he left because the current Moz manager situation at the time was impossible to get along with?
That wasn't Pete Galli being referred to, though - it was Donnie Knutson who is, as far as we know, still very much embedded in Team Moz.Maybe Alain Whyte will now consider coming back? I tell you what, when either Johnny or Morrissey dies, there will be major “fuc k, we should have done at least one show for a DVD” vibes going on in the remaining one standing’s mind.
Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only famously hated the shit out of each other, but buried the hatchet and did Misfits shows before everyone got too old.
As Morrissey once wrote, use your loaf.
Morrissey obviously wouldn’t be so rash as to sack a manager without first digging into the detail, doing a full risk assessment, and generally getting all his ducks in a row. I anticipate the tour will proceed like clockwork. The big question now is if the tour will go ahead or not. If not the current band will also be over.

M has currently zero managers and yet liam gallagher has four managers, just wondering why anyone would need 4 managers.

Can’t see him cancelling, it must cost a few quid staying in lavish hotels all the time and with the pitiful return artists get off Spotify I assume his main income is from touring.
