What surprises me about myself is that although I play guitar and adore Johnny's riffs/melodies, I have never went to see him, even though he's in my home town at least once or twice a year. It's very much about Morrissey for me, he is The Smiths. I could never get excited about JM live the way I love M's shows. I have seen many but fear I'll never see another, nor buy another record at this rate. These are nervous times ....Hmmm, I wonder too! However, the ultimate question is, who would you queue up up to see? Morrissey or Marr?....![]()

What is your role in this exactly?![]()
Inside information on Moz, Marr & management
It's a sad day as Galli is widely known in the music industry as a good guy and really tried to do the best for Moz. He was responsible for the massive Smiths reunion offer that the Mozzer signed off on. It was the first time Moz ever signed off on a Smith's reunion tour. I heard Galli even met...www.morrissey-solo.com
I don't know much about New Order, more familiar with JD. You mentioned G-Mex 07/1986 a while ago; I have a radio broadcast of The Smiths' set, it's something I listen to a lot! 'Thank Your Lucky Stars' was a bit of a let down.I go to see both and enjoy their shows for different reasons, Morrissey has a fabulous voice but his band just struggle with Smiths stuff, however the majority of his solo stuff is superb. I like synth/guitar stuff and I'm a massive fan of New Order so I like Marr songs like Armatopia and Spirit Power and Soul but his best song for me is Somewhere and when he did his orchestral thing it was the stand put song from the night, from a technical perspective he and his band absolutely nail the Smiths stuff that they play but obviously its a different vocal. Anyway point of my post is that I'm happy to go and see both but for different reasons.

I agree on Morrissey/Marr. It would be hollow. We all know they are different people now and too much spilt non-dairy milk. And it's not The Smiths without Andy/Mike.I don't long for a Morrissey and Marr reunion but I still hold out for a Morrissey and Whyte reunion though. I realise we did get a brief one and an album we will probably never hear. The current line up if you can call it that, doesn't do much for me. They were okay live but there wasn't much presence on stage at all.

I really don't see it happening. Which is unfortunate for the fans (my bias aside), history shows that things were considerably better in almost all facets of his career (post The Smiths and early Street involvement) when Alain was not only writing the bulk of the material with Boz supplementing the gems he was offering during that time, but was also there to pull M up on some things he needed to be pulled up on. A concept that is quite obviously lacking these days.
Never say never, but there is no chance Al goes back under the current circumstances (not that he's being asked). As the person closest to filling his management needs by default, I wouldn't let him... as his friend I'd accidentally close his fingers in the door to prevent it from happening (hey, what are friends for?!? lol)
In all seriousness, M's current band is of little interest to Al (personally, once Boz and Al were both gone, the band lost any remaining pieces of its soul). If he took on Al's current band and or did a short term reform of the YA band, I think he has mentioned he'd consider it. He would also likely still write with M if it was just those two (which is what was in fact discussed when he first rejoined a few years back).
For the sake of clarity, AW's issues were not with M's manager. As has been publicly stated here and there, the "bullshittery" that took place primarily came directly from Mr. Knutson. There were other issues (nothing that couldn't have been worked out at the time). I received unsolicited tips that Donnie's services were no longer being used by Mozzer. Can't confirm that to be true, but if so it was certainly a step in the right direction, imo. That was the tour manager, Donnie Knutson, who I think is still on board.
I wonder what will happen to all the new music if he dies.
It'll be locked away in a vault next to The Smiths version of "A Fool Such As I".I wonder what will happen to all the new music if he dies.
We're risking getting moved to off topic, perhaps... but, his band still includes Gaz and Spen from the early M solo days (and before). Craig Gannon is still on lead guitar and Gustavo is providing keys/guitars (and pretty much anything asked of him). The next EP has been mixed and mastered and just waiting to decide on pressing and distribution (remind me to call and have the lacquers cut. thnxThat’s good to hear. I also really liked the Boz podcast last week. It seems to me that he would also return if asked back. However, in the current situation I cannot really see that happening soonish. But things can change quickly.
So what’s the status of Alain’s current band? Any plans for more live shows or maybe recorded material?

There are plans to have them playing shows at the beginning of the new year in the UK and... shows featuring the full band here in the US after that (likely spring on the west coast to start).
I'm hoping to announce something (or at least get confirmation) either today or tomorrow regarding some cool news for fans in the southwest US. Just need to make sure all the I'd are dotted. The t's are pretty much crossed. Should be a blast!
“Band management”. My feeling is that may mean Donnie but also very much…Jesse Tobias. That wasn't Pete Galli being referred to, though - it was Donnie Knutson who is, as far as we know, still very much embedded in Team Moz.
Noted and thank you. Seriously, will pass it on the booking agency. Manchester will definitely be part of it.That's great news, hopefully they will play somewhere like Gorilla in Manchester as it generates a great atmosphere and Alain and the band would be most welcome there!
Jesse is a fascinating cat. I've my own thoughts best kept to myself.“Band management”. My feeling is that may mean Donnie but also very much…Jesse Tobias.
Interestingly, I made an anti-Jesse comment on Instagram earlier this year and both Alain and Gus Manzor both “liked” it.

As for "likes" here or elsewhere, I don't know what your post said, but I sometimes will read a post that will have multiple points being made and I'll like it even if I'm only agreeing with one of them. So, keep that in mind. However, if they both liked it...
(full disclosure, multiple people have access to AW's IG page, including me)
For me the band was never the same after Alain stopped touring in 2004. That was the end of the golden era.I don’t remember exactly what I posted but something along the lines of how he just won’t go away and how I feel he is emblematic of the decline of Morrissey’s music/career.
