In the band since 2022, in which time lead guitarist, drummer and keyboard players have changed. Yet JGT is "new"? Can we really trust anything you share?
99% of the audience last night couldn’t name the person who actually lead the countdown. It wasn’t the name of the bloke on the marquee.

4,000 is Palladium? Hardly small.
Seen him in much smaller places in the 90s.
But much smaller than where he played 9 years earlier:

Twas a good show! Morrissey was very energetic and talkative and seemed to be really
happy. Setlist was a little dull, but it was still a wonderful show! Countdown was amazing, and the obituaries were also really nice. Happy new year guys!

I have no idea what you’re talking about here but as a fat American Morrissey fan, I stopped and got a burrito at Del Taco after the show it was fkg delicious. Foggy as hell last night, couldn’t see two cars ahead of you. Added to the ambiance of the whole evening. Who was that old lady w the short grey hair in the front row? I was directly behind her.
crystal it was a dig at redacteds expense, not all americans are fat thats like saying all scottish people have red hair, glad you enjoyed the show and your burrito.

Ah, complain, complain, complain. Geezus
Explain how that’s complaining. It’s a simple fact that you assign a positive or negative to- not me. Morrissey made a huge deal about a NYE show and then passed off countdown duties to someone nobody outside a few dozen of us dorks knows. Who has zero history or co-writes or anything. It’s not like he handed countdown duties to Boz or Alain or even Gary.

I'm just happy that M managed to show up for all the dates. When did that last happen? I wasn't there in LA, but if I was I don't think I would feel cheated by M not leading the countdown - he showed up, gave a great performance and got into the new year's spirit.

maybe he was giving a leg up to the one person in the band who looks the quietest and shyest and simply gave him a moment to shine.

Thank you saying exactly what I meant. I thought it was really lazy and rude of him not to do it himself and then to hand it to that temporary nobody who has no history with him? LAME.

No Andy Rourke in the memoriam but James Dean and was that Eddie Cochran? Wow they must have been OLD.

I do kind of agree it is odd & a shame that Morrissey did not do the count down - after all it is his show and would have been a celebration time to connect with his fans & would have generated more excitement in the crowd. I wonder why he chose not to? Maybe he is just not big on these sorts of things anyway? I liked he gave every band member a hug though.

If this is indeed the re-recording of Notre-Dame (and I really think it is) I have zero hope of musical progression. Alain's input on WMTWD was my only glimpse of hope, things would get better. No warmth in the recording and uncle Joe still @ the helm.
The original piece of music was quite rich and warm if I remember correctly, but the repetitive lyrics threw me off at the time and they are still largely there.

I think it is pretty amazing that Morrissey did this kind of New Year's Eve show in the first place and it must have been cool to attend.

People predicted as soon as the shows were announced that Morrissey would not do the countdown himself and that should be a surprise to nobody. I'm not sure why anyone who has followed his 40+ year career would have expected him to suddenly become the genial host and to lead a countdown before extravagantly shouting, "Happy New Year!"

Possible, they thought it would be pretty neat if they did it in Spanish(Moz Angeles) and who better to do it now that Gustavo is not there.....Juan Toro

I am surprised that someone in the industry can't differentiate between the role of a promoter versus the artist. Morrissey didn't make a big deal of this being an NYE show, but he gave it a go and most of the audience appeared to appreciate it. At various times he's given spotlight over to band members...Gustavo's Speedway sign-off being a classic example.

That's right, I also remember Gustavo singing in Spanish on EDILS. Again Moz giving spotlight to his band members

the charles rennie mackintosh building in glasgow burned down, they built it back up and guess what,it burned back down again.
notre dame was rebuilt with a billion francs in donations, how many hospitals could that have built.
