Morrissey Central "NOVEMBER USA" (August 12, 2024)

NOVEMBER USA

Morrissey would like it to be known that contrary to statements used by various ticket outlets/events calendars/venues, Morrissey has absolutely no say in concert ticket prices, and is not apprised of ticket regulations/rules. Neither is Morrissey consulted on any form of 'special tickets'.
Good luck!

But what MORRISSEY does control is letting 20 people, all from Los Angeles, being led in by Joey at the start of each show, before anyone else, to be down against the barrier. Surely, this gets tiresome for both artist and fan.
doesn’t seem ‘tiresome for both artist and fan’ at all. If it continues as it has, why would you think it tiresome to them?
Morrissey, please respect those who have paid, sometimes Platinum (or whatever) prices, to get those tickets. Certain Angelenos I Know, please respect other fans who have spent good money to be down there and don't stand in front of someone who has a front row seat, because that is not cool. Thank you!

I think in this case, devotion trumps money.
It seems the select bunch brought in earlier
to the shows, is done out of respect for their devotion. There are some things ‘good money’ can’t buy.

What people think or how they want to criticize said ‘devotion’ of these fans is of little interest to me. It is what it is.

Good luck!

Let's be honest.........he doesn't give a shit about fans anymore. It's a long way away from putting stickers on Hatful of Hollow to say "do not pay more than £3.99" on the albums. If he cared, he wouldn't let his website sell shitty cotton T-shirts made in the third world for £30.

Respectfully, you are partly wrong. While it may not get tiresome, these devotees, do not have the right to stand in front of a fan who may not be as devoted but has paid platinum prices for a front row seat or hundreds of dollars to a third-party seller making a profit, because they are taking that person's paid seat. We are not talking about a General Admission venue here...letting those fans in early down to the barrier who are on a guest list is fine...I am talking about a 100% seated venue. I am not doubting or being critical of devotion of said fans. I have been to 42 shows. My first show was in 1991. I travel to all these shows because I don't live in a part of the world MORRISSEY frequents often. Where does that put me? I ask for nothing special in return. I only ask that the artist respect the fan who has paid for a seat to allow them to sit and/or stand in front of that seat. Nothing more. Nothing less. Thank you! And good luck!

Agree, Paul Heaton managed to keep prices low.

Morrissey 2024 is very far removed from the likes of Paul Heaton . Could you ever imagine him putting money behind pubs and bars to buy some of his fans a drink?
Let's be brutally honest a lot of his fan base in the UK and beyond has totally dwindled, so the push on signed merchandise and other ways to feather his nest have increased tenfold. Yes, he may have no control over prices , but nor would he stand up for fans paying inflated prices like The Cure did. Just like he sycophants who are ushered in at every show, he just sees you as another M pay day.

Life maybe for him is like it is for me - a mad, confusing scramble. How is he supposed to get the t-shirts made? I haven’t seen a label on a t-shirt saying it was made anywhere but Bangladesh as far back as I can remember.

Is there now backlash that ticket prices are too high?
Is this an early attempt to quell feeling that Moz should be doing a Robert Smith-style intervention into ridiculously high prices for tickets?
I'm guessing he's referring to those 'Platinum' tickets, which have the prices ramped up by Ticketmaster so are never offered for sale at face value?

He really doesn’t like using current photos of himself does he?
It's all getting a bit 'Dorian Grey' isn't it? The 'no publicity photos of Morrissey allowed beyond 2014' policy has reached such a point that I wouldn't be surprised to see him start wearing a 3D printed mask of his own face circa 1992 on the next tour. :lbf:

Sometimes prices are set high during pre-sales and on the opening day of the official sales. But haven’t there been cases in the past where ticket prices had dropped some days before a show with plenty of tickets still unsold?
Ticket Master and other vendors are not afraid to use certain pricing strategies that aren’t very fan-friendly. At least that is my understanding (as an economist)

It is fair to say though that compared to artists playing the same venues as Morrissey does, prices for Morrissey shows are towards the high end. That has been my experience hete in Belgium and euroland, where prices are fixed / don’t change over time as in the US.

I have never had trouble with ticket prices, including these November shows. I guess I’ve just been lucky. And I’m usually in the pit against the stage, too.

Morrissey fans would like it to be known that contrary to statements used by various ticket outlets/events calendars/venues and Morrissey himself, Morrissey fans have absolutely no say in whether Morrissey shows up or not. Neither are Morrissey fans consulted as to any reason why said concerts were not attended by Morrissey.
Good luck!

Where does it say from the venues or Ticketmaster ‘don’t blame us for the prices, blame Morrissey!’???

Your reasoning is ridiculous. People who went to the Vegas shows were pretty upset that they had to stand in the queue while select people were allowed to put their name on a list and leave for hours and then come back and go to the front of the line and get in first.

My REM stuff was made in the USA; I accept it was bought a while ago—but the popular consensus even back then, was that it couldn’t be done.

If the artist is actually interested, it can happen.

Don’t give him any ideas!
