Fiona Dodwell: "Misunderstanding Morrissey: Sparks and the steady drip, drip, drip of slander" (July 15, 2020)

"One wonders whether the vocal Morrissey detractors have delved much beyond the surface of NME's clickbait headlines and the lefty identity politics of formerly reputable publications like The Guardian."

The man who wrote 'Back to the Old House' is not just a bit nostalgic I'm afraid. He lives in a world inhabited by dead writers, poets and an England that doesn't exist anymore (and I know what you'll say - it never did).

What has happened to his England breaks his heart. I know this because I, and many others, feel this same pain. A country that was so special will never be the same again.

When the Manchester bomb went off on his birthday when he was back home was Moz's final straw. After that he fearlessly spoke out - time and time again. Yes, he's mellowed now somewhat because he doesn't want to commit total career suicide.

But ultimately what has destroyed the England that Moz loved (and sang about for years) is mass engineered immigration which was carried out first by Blair at the behest of his globalist masters. Moz knows this. He's read (and recommended) all the books that say this very same thing.

Moz does not know this, or least has never said this - you believe it - & you're projecting it on to him.

Nostalgia for his childhood, isn't his England - which he's spent more time insulting than pining for.

He's not mellowed to save his career - he seems to have realised that people didn't understand what he meant.

Only the Douglas Murray book comes close to your Globalist theory & it buries it fairly deep in the text.

You're an Anon on the internet living some fantasy - he's got to have his name attached to this stuff. And he obviously doesn't like it it.

This is Morrissey

if no one is talking trash about him in the media he feels like he has failed as an artist. it's his way of staying "relevant" and in the "top ten". this fiona dodwell article is just part of his ability to gaslight his made up situations and create this perception that someone is trying to stick up for him. really, if he didn't say such outrageous things or have these "counter culture" views no one would really give a shit and no one would be talking about him, let alone reviewing his music. it's the same old boring pattern. what's next, some video of him in his living room saying how he's not said all of these things?

The question obviously makes you uncomfortable which is why you are (very clumsily) changing the subject.

You literally did same thing not that long ago, but to answer your rather stupid question... No, why would I lower myself by socializing with the out of touch or he’ll accept their ignorance & bigotry

The Douglas Murray book blames virtually all England's ills on engineered mass immigration - and Moz so enjoyed the book to the extent that he recommended all his fans read it.

Love for your country is like any other love. There's always a love/hate element. Look at the lyrics of Girlfriend in a Coma - There were times when I could have murdered her / but I would hate anything to happen to her. That's Morrissey's England. This is a man in love with John Betjeman and Philip Larkin - fellow (slightly curmudgeonly) lovers of England.

Hope so. I like the drama.

I asked if you agree that "racists" are entitled to air their opinions, not if you would socialise with them.

It's not a hard question. A yes or no would suffice.

Back to the opinions discussion since you couldn’t make another poor reply in regards of Björk, and so hateful opinions = diversity 💀sure Karen... I’m all for actual diversity meaning non racist people should be accepted regardless of race, color or sexuality

🤒

Fake C, I see you are slowly sliding back towards the psycho babble.

Douglas accumulates rights clashes & problems for most of the book before he gets to his theory about cultural Marxists trying to destroy the West.

Moz clearly thought Trump's response to the Orlando massacre was anti-gay so his worries about Islam aren't coming from Ye Olde England - it starts with his sexuality.

I don't think it's that at all - I think he genuinely gets upset about these things & from what I've heard he'll talk about his latest worry whenever he's talking to someone not just to hacks.

Low In High School was a good album, with a fabulously quirky & very camp video for Spent the day.

His debacles & subsequent withdrawal from all other publicity didn't do anything for him.

He's got a tormented mind.

Well considering I just said I don’t accept their opinions which should answer your outlandish question, but since you want direct reply for that thick skull of yours...No, I just don’t think racist should voice their opinions and frankly nobody asked for them in the first place.

My point is that (just like Douglas Murray) Morrissey agrees that engineered mass immigration has destroyed the country he loves. To him, England is now "a memory".

This is also one of the reasons why he recommended we vote for For Britain, who are one of the very few political parties who want to cut immigration.

You desperately don't want to believe this - perhaps it seems a little distasteful to you. But most people across the land are not happy with what mass immigration has done to Britain - they feel it has become a foreign country and feel alienated and undermined as a result. And nobody enjoys the high crime that it has evidently brought.

Churchill urged men to fight in WW2 to "defend our culture and way of life". We won at a big price and high death toll all for the floodgates to be thrown open three years later - and never closed. This was a betrayal.

It's not a case of not believing it - he hasn't said it.

And he hates Churchill for being a genocidal murderer.

Then I'm more of a bona fide liberal than you then. I believe everybody should be allowed to air their opinions without castigation whether they are deemed "correct" by the media/government etc or not.

I also believe we should have national debates and no subject should ever be no-go - especially something as concerning to so many people as immigration.

You castigate people for their "racism" when you are intolerant yourself.

everyone is 'racist'. so should the entire human race just stay quiet?

So do I despise Churchill. He wasn't only a murderer but a liar.

Moz recommended Douglas Murray's book because he agrees with it.

Face the truth - you'll understand Morrissey more for it.

This sort of "if you're so tolerant, then how come you're not tolerant of intolerance" routine is such a tired trope. It's rhetorical horseshit and has nothing to do with a legitimate argument for or against censorship.

This kind of intolerance is fairly new and growing. Debate takes things forward - this is always how a civilised democracy has operated. Now people just want to "silence" any opinion they don't like.

It has to end - the "racist" label is completely defunct.
